At the head of Cantieri Navali Rodriguez until 1990, Willy Persico was looking to build his own sailing yacht of certain specifications.
Today, the shipyard builds luxury composite sailing vessels ranging from 71 feet (21.9m) to 115 feet (35.05m) in length. Southern Wind gained notoriety along with Farr Yacht Design with the launch of the Farr 72 series of sailing yachts. The duo later expanded with the launch of the SW102 series, which included the first hull, ALMAGORES II, ATALANTE, and FARFALLA.
