Thailand | Exotic & Enticing
Taking to the crystal clear waters of Thailand is a wonderful yacht charter destination. Deemed to the superyacht industry as “off the beaten track”, to most travelers Thailand has long been on the map. Long lazy days of sunshine, beaches and amazing food has enticed the western world for well over two decades now, but yet the superyacht world has been slow to follow. This is no bad element though. Expect to find remote anchorages in turquoise waters surrounded by dramatic karsts jutting out of the warm seas, picture perfect white sand beaches and light blue waters lapping against hundreds of islands. Of course, depending on where you go you could find a hedonistic party hard scene too. On the east coast, the islands scattered around the Gulf of Thailand make for a super itinerary with stops in the touristy Koh Samui and the smaller Koh Phangan. If you carry on up the coast you will reach the bustling capital of Bangkok. Here, marvel at temples, shop in the floating market or try the street food of Kho San Road. On the other side, try the islands of Phi Phi, Lanta and Phuket for high-end resorts and a fantastic party scene. If you are looking for off the beaten track then head down to Krabi and out to the Trang Islands. Here, hundreds of untouched Thai islands await. This is Thailand before the tourism boom, where you won’t see any chain restaurants, just beach shacks selling their wares. Also, make sure you go for a swim in the sea in the evening to disturb the phosphorescent and marvel at its illuminations under the water. Thailand - Top Anchorages
Koh Ngai – This island has a few beachy hotels on it, but the island itself is picture perfect. Ask the captain to anchor off shore and spend the afternoon snorkelling, or out on the water toys. Take a kayak around the shallows close to the island where transparent seas give way to a teeming underwater world. In the evening head ashore to the small resort of CoCo Cottages to try some tasty local cuisine. Koh Muk – The Emerald Cave: Ask the captain to stop on the small islet between Koh Muk and Koh Ngai. With a local guide you can swim through a cave and into the center of the islet where a picture perfect emerald green lagoon awaits. There is a small beach and some fauna to enjoy too. This is best seen at midday when the sun is high in the sky casting straight down into the lagoon. Koh Muk/Koh Ngai
