Damen Yachting recently launched the third hull in the Yacht Support 53 series. YS 5303 will now enter her final build stage, with final outfitting and sea trials taking place over the next few months. Taking place at their yacht building facility in Antalya, the launch is a milestone for the Dutch builders. Pim Oostra, Damen Yachting Project Manager for YS 5303, expressed, the launch reflects the “Yacht Support design is now coming into its own as a series.” He notes that Damen Yachting is “looking forward to the final build stages” as they prepare for the vessel’s completion in summer 2025.

Hull number one in the Yacht Support 53 series is BAD COMPANY SUPPORT 175. Delivered in May 2024 to the legendary BAD COMPANY fleet, YS5301 is the operational support vessel for the sportfishing and scientific expedition program. Hull two FIVE OCEANS, utilized for expedition and conservation efforts, was launched in March 2024.

YS5303 carries on the series’ striking aesthetics – a blend of modern utility and sleek lines, designed for both function and performance. Its design prioritizes durability and operational efficiency, ensuring it excels under varying maritime conditions.
A standout feature of the YS5303 is its axe bow design, an innovative shape that slices through waves to significantly reduce vertical motion, thus providing enhanced stability regardless of sea state. The high bow and pronounced spray rails keep the deck dry, not only to ensure the safety and comfort of those aboard but also to protect sensitive equipment from the corrosive effects of saltwater in harsh conditions.
The yacht’s exterior spaces are designed for versatility, with a large aft platform that can be utilized for a variety of activities such as launching tenders with a 15-ton crane and oceanside entertaining. As part of its functional exterior, YS5303 boasts practical and aesthetic forward-raking windows. These windows improve visibility in inclement weather, reduce glare at night, help minimize heat buildup, and increase usable interior space.
YS5303 has a range of 5000 nautical miles when cruising at 12 knots and a top speed of 19 knots. Damen Yachting is responsible for the vessel’s naval architecture as well as the interior and exterior design. Upon her delivery later this year, YS5303 will host up to eight guests with ten crew and a captain.
