As a division of Amels, Damen Yachting is well-known for premium engineering, with its SeaXplorer Yachts and Yacht Support Vessels fusing both function and style. Its portfolio of yachts continues to grow as the second Damen YS 53 support yacht is now in build, with an expected delivery date of 2024.
The Damen Support Yacht YS 53: Walking on New Naval Architectural Paths
The Damen Yacht Support team created the YS 53 with a completely new approach to its naval architecture. The shipyard describes the design as “playful, muscular and emboldening” with al fresco dining spaces, outdoor lounges, and floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows.

Providing Additional Space, Technologies, and Equipment
The concept of a support vessel is to provide additional space, technologies, and equipment for the main yacht. The YS 53 design draws on Damen’s 20+ years of experience in building yachts that provide solutions to yacht owners and offer unparalleled services, from housing tenders to fully operating dive centers. The YS 53 is no different and has a deck crane capable of lifting up to 15 tons, over 250 square meters of deck space that can store boats, tenders, toys, and land-based vehicles.

Early support yachts were often very basic, with minimal attention paid to the interior design or experience on board – luxury features were almost always found on the main yacht. However, in recent years, support yachts are now seen as functional sister ships that continue the five-star guest experience found on the main yacht.

Comfortable But Stylish
The evolution of what owners expect from support vessels is evident in Damen’s YF 53 with excellent exterior spaces, comfortable lounging areas, and a stylish interior design. This yacht can accommodate an impressive 16 guests and 10 crew, plus a captain. At 53.25m (175ft), the YS 53 is an ideal size companion yacht and her range of 5,000 nautical miles ensures that she is well prepared for world cruising. She is powered by two Rolls Royce MTU engines with a top speed of 19 knots.
