Company History

When Robert Healey and his brother, William, bought Peterson-Viking Builders in 1964 in New Gretna, New Jersey, they never envisioned it would become the sportfishing powerhouse it is today.

“Renamed Viking Yacht Company as soon as the ink dried on the contract, Bill Healey pledged to “build a better boat every day.” And, true to his word, Viking Yachts has sported fresh designs of sportfishing boats and upped its engineering and performance game across the lineup for the past five decades.”

Strong, Reliable, and Built with Integrity

Viking boats are strong, reliable, and are built with integrity. For over fifty years, viking’s slogan has been to “build a better boat every day”, and they have. With integrity, top engineering and performance, the company has been a shining example of what a true boat builder should be.

There are many Viking Yachts for sale all over the globe – simply start your search here at YATCO.com. At any point in time, there are upwards of over 100 Viking boats for sale here – plenty to choose from!

“Sportfishing is such a popular pastime all over the world, and there is no better sportfish yacht builder than the Viking Yacht Company. Their quality control is tight, and they rely on their strong reputation to gain more and more clientele each year.”

Family-Owned and -Operated

Still family-owned and -operated – Bill’s son, Pat, took over as president and CEO in the late ‘90s – Viking Yacht Company yacht builder is now one of the premier manufacturers of quality convertible yachts, open yachts and motor yachts.

With more than 800,000 square feet of boatbuilding space along the Bass and Mullica Rivers in southern New Jersey, Viking Yachts constructs more than 100 high-end Viking boats including convertible yachts and open yachts in the 37 to 93-foot range each year.

They truly build “a better boat every day.”

One of the main reasons Viking Yachts has a decided edge over its competitors is that it manufactures 90 percent of each yacht’s components in-house.

“This commitment to quality control is unprecedented in the marine industry. Because of their quality control tactics, their yachts seem to last a lifetime.”

Viking yachts for sale are highly coveted, and there are over 100 available here on YATCO.com.

Viking Yacht Models:

The Viking Billfish Series

Three phrases that best describe the popular Viking Billfish series (37BF, 38BF 38 Open, 44 Open and 46BF) are super-fast, easy to maneuver and really fun to drive, simply put, they build a better sportfishing boat.

Built in the former 80,000-square-foot Ocean Yachts factory, these “ready-to-go fishing machines” are the market’s benchmark for comfort, flexibility and execution.

Each of the Viking Billfish series yachts features creature comforts such as air conditioning. Sportfishing fanatics are just as passionate about their Viking motor yacht than they are about sportfishing itself, because they build a better boat.

Viking MY Series

Don’t let the MY series’ square footage fool you. These industry-leading Viking motor yachts (75MY, 82CockpitMY and 93MY) are as roomy, if not roomier, than their 100-foot-plus competitors. And their size doesn’t impede their speed, because they build a better boat.

In fact, the 93MY has a top-end speed of 27 knots. It turns out this luxurious world-traveler is also an excellent tournament sportfisher. Viking yachts are also extremely comfortable, and often creature comforts such as air conditioning, en suites with showers, plush staterooms, and much more.

Valhalla Boatworks (VBW)

In 2019, Viking Yachts created Valhalla Boatworks (VBW) and launched three models concurrently.

The V series models (V-33, V-37 and V-41) from Valhalla Boatworks are designed to live up to the Viking name. They’re tough, high-performing, luxurious center consoles that lead the industry in personalization opportunities. Center consoles are excellent fishing boats, and you can start your search for a Viking yacht for sale here on YATCO.com.

Viking Convertible Yacht Line

But, the top dog in the Viking Yacht lineup is the Convertible series with eight models ranging from 44 to 92 feet.

Captains, Viking dealers and the media alike single it out as the best high-performance family cruising yacht in its class.

Oh, and it’s a bluewater tournament champion as well. In August 2020, the team aboard a Viking 80 CE took home the largest Winner-Take-All prize in Gulf of Mexico tournament history by landing a 698.4-pound blue marlin.

Simply put, Viking boats are winners. Each of these stunning Convertibles features all the amenities that avid anglers seek, including a cool interior from air conditioning for them to come “home” to after a long day in the sun.

Viking Yachts for Sale

Simply put, the Viking Yacht Company just builds a better sportfishing boat. How can you get your hands on one of these sportfishing machines, you ask?

You can start your search here on YATCO.com, and you can contact one of our many professional members who are experts in the marine industry.

You can also wait for a boat show such as in Fort Lauderdale, and see one in person, but if you are looking to purchase a Viking yacht sooner rather than later, it’s best to contact a yacht broker here on YATCO.com through our broker finder, above, under Directory.

After all, why wait – boat shows where Viking yachts are displayed only come around a few times out of the year.

There are also Viking dealers around the country that you can visit, but then again, having your own yacht broker perform the search for you is more effective and efficient than traveling to a Viking dealer.

  • They know the market, and have been working their entire career on being able to find the perfect yacht for their clients through yacht sales.
  • Since there are many Viking sportfishing models to choose from, they will be able to narrow it down for you based on your fishing and lifestyle needs.

Sportfishing boats are not hard to come by, but the ideal one that suits your needs is a bit trickier to find, so why not put your search into the hands of a professional?

Yacht brokers are highly skilled professionals in yacht sales and can easily help you find what you are looking for. Start your search here on YATCO.com, and then contact a broker today that can help you get your dream Viking yacht sooner, rather than later.

Popular waters around south Florida, such as in Fort Lauderdale, are excellent for sportfishing with your new Viking yacht. Some even fish the intracoastal for smaller fish, and the simple enjoyment of cruising. Viking’s family-friendly motor yachts and sportfishing yachts make the ideal vessel for such activity. Contact a yacht broker through YATCO to start your search and get out on the water!
