American company Californian yachts began in the ‘70s by partners Jule Marshall and Myrna Elliott. They had the desire to create high-quality trawler yachts that were fast, luxurious and moderately priced. Marshall focused on designing the hull and superstructure, he opted for a semi-displacement hull and more horsepower to increase speed. Elliott focused on the interiors, and created comfortable spaces that were luxurious but accessible at the same time.
Although the company has undergone many ownership changes, the company has always fostered Marshall’s original goals and dedication in creating these semi-custom pilothouse yachts. Together with a company called Navigator yachts, the Californian yacht brand has remained an American icon in boat building, focusing on mini yachts up to 49 feet.
