The highly anticipated Venice Boat Show (Salone Nautico Venezia 2022) is taking place from 29 May – 6 June at the Arsenale of Venice, a symbolic venue with a historic association with the Italian naval industry. The event is now in its third year and offers over 50,000 square meters of exhibition space, with almost 250 berths for yachts on display.

Sustainable Boating, E-Regatta, All-Electric Boats, and More Fun on the Water

The boat show explores various aspects of sailing and shipbuilding and has been an industry leader in highlighting sustainable vessels within the yacht industry. Last year the event hosted its first-ever ‘E-Regatta’ and several high-profile eco-friendly brands have returned in 2022 to display their latest models including Vita Yachts and X Shore.

Vita Yachts

Since 2017, Vita Yachts has launched three models that have elevated the electric boat market, the Vita IX, Electric, and the Vita Lion, as well as the Vita Seal – an electric rib and now Vita Cub, a jet ski.

X Shore Boats

X Shore is also at the Venice Boat Show to showcase the brand’s all-electric boats that are built for high performance and can reach a top speed of over 30 knots.

Electric Boat Options from Established Boat Shipyards

Established boat builders will also be highlighting electric options for clients, including Cantiere Nautico Feltrinelli with its electric catamaran Frauscher TimeSquare 20. With a speed and range similar to the builder’s Frauscher 740 Mirage Air, this eco-friendly option utilizes two electric outboard motors and an innovative hull design for smooth sailing and ultra-efficiency.

The New Way of Boating: Sustainable, Smart, and Green

Sanlorenzo Yachts

On the third day of the show, the esteemed Italian shipyard Sanlorenzo announced two new designs: the SD90s, an entry-level model in its sustainable yachting line and the SP110, a model from Sanlorenzo’s new ‘smart performance’ series.

Sanlorenzo SD90

The SD90s joins the shipyard’s existing SD96 and SD118 models to offer owners ‘greener’ yachting options. With innovative hybrid propulsion technology and a ‘zero-emissions’ electric mode, this new model will be an exciting new choice for eco-conscious clients. The design also incorporates recycled or sustainable material options for the model’s glass, wood paneling and tiles.

Sanlorenzo’s SP110 concept offers owners several innovative design features. For example, it uses three smaller engines with hydro jet propulsion that provides optimum power in a variety of sea conditions, which increases the boat’s fuel efficiency. The wide beam of 8m (26ft) also ensures extra stability even in rough conditions. The first hull is due to be delivered in late 2022.

The Ferretti Group
