The future is now for buying and selling yachts. Boathouse Auctions’ specialized online auction platform is redefining how yachts change hands in today’s market. After years of witnessing traditional yacht resales unfold in a slow, often costly manner, founder Jack Mahoney launched Boathouse Auctions to introduce a more efficient, competitive, and transparent alternative. Buyers and sellers are brought together in a time-certain environment that accelerates sales, limits carrying costs, and creates urgency through real-time bidding.
Sellers and their listing brokers determine the auction date and terms, while prospective buyers are granted access to comprehensive vessel, mechanical, and engine surveys, detailed photography, and other due diligence materials during a defined preview period.
Qualified participants can then place live online bids from anywhere in the world, with the highest bid prevailing and transactions typically closing within 30 days or less. Brokers remain central to the process, coordinating showings, sea trials, and negotiations – and continuing to earn commissions – while Boathouse Auctions manages the marketing, promotion, and creation of competitive interest.
Each yacht is promoted globally to a curated audience of pre-qualified bidders, helping to generate momentum for vessels that may have lingered in the traditional marketplace.
By combining the immediacy and excitement of an auction with transparent, real-time bidding and robust pre-auction information, Boathouse Auctions offers a proven, confidence-inspiring alternative for moving yachts swiftly and efficiently. The next auction preview will begin Feb. 27 and will feature the following four vessels, all of which will also be on display at the upcoming Palm Beach International Boat Show.
