Now known as Princess Yachts America, Princess Viking Yachts began in the ‘90s when President Tom Carroll, who at the time, was the head of Viking Yachts, went on a trip to England and visited the Princess Yachts yard. He was so impressed with the yard, and saw many parallels between the two companies, that he immediately began work to bring the yachts to America. There were some changes the needed to be made to the yachts in order for them to be successful in the States, such as larger interior accommodations, better air conditioning and other elements to complement the American cruising lifestyle.
The company continued to make investments and advancements in new sport cruiser and motor yacht models with improved quality and consistency for the US market, and in 2008, became part of the exclusive LVMH conglomerate of luxury brands. As the company grew, so too did its size range of yacht building. Viking continues to support the Princess brand as the sole distributor for the US market and also provides sales and service support through its extensive network of dealers.
