Albin Boats, founded by Albin Larson in 1899 in Sweden, started out as Albin Marine – a company that manufactured marine diesel engines. The company evolved into a master builder of sailboats and power yachts. In the mid-‘60s, Fred Peters, a Dutchman who loved sailing, hopped onboard Albin Boats. By 1974, he owned the company and moved its operations to a 147,000-square-foot facility in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, where he introduced a new style of boat that was both rugged and reasonably priced. This new line – called Down-easters – included the Albin 25, Albin 27 and Albin 28 and created a whole new market.
Today, Albin 25 and Albin 28 boats for sale are still some of the most popular pre-owned vessels on the market worldwide. From stem to stern, every Albin boat for sale has all the features Scandinavian vessels are famous for: high-quality craftsmanship, classic design, easy handling in rough seas, reliability and comfortable spaces. Before the company was sold to C&C Marine in 2007, thousands of seaworthy vessels ranging from 25 to 49 feet were built under Fred’s watchful eye. In fact, between 1968 and 1981, Albin Boats had built and sold more than 5,000 of one of its most popular models – the Albin 25 family cruiser.
