The first Amels 80 has successfully completed her technical launch. Now that the first 261ft (80m) Amels Limited Edition model has hit the water, she is headed for Damen Yachting’s main shipyard in the Netherlands to complete her final outfitting.
After first being introduced in March 2022, the next-generation Amels Limited Edition yacht is set for delivery to her owner in 2025. The model was sold one year ago with Burgess introducing the buyer and remaining involved as the owner’s representative throughout.
Amels 80 Build Process
Sean Bianchi, Partner – Head of Burgess New Construction, Naval Architect, shares, “The Owner is enthusiastic and forward thinking when it comes to his yachting needs and our team has worked closely with him and Damen Yachting to realize his vision. Taking the Amels Limited Editions platform as a superior baseline, the owner has embellished the design in specific areas making the yacht a truly custom vessel. The collaboration between Damen Yachting, their sub- contractors, designers and Burgess has been a joint and rewarding process that will make this first Amels Limited Editions stand out amongst her peers and set the benchmark for future yachts. We are proud to be involved in bringing this yacht to successful delivery for a visionary owner.”
Romke van der Linde, Damen Yachting’s Project Manager, elaborates, “This owner is positive, driven and passionate and it is great that we can realize this dream for him and be at the forefront of shipbuilding. What we are creating incorporates over a century of yacht building expertise and the experience gained from the Amels Limited Editions evolution – a process I have always been proud to be a part of. Today is a huge milestone in the history of our Amels Limited Editions and I can’t wait for her to arrive in Vlissingen and watch her evolve into the very special superyacht she is set to become.”
Espen Øino penned the exterior design, with a focus on sustainable materials and cutting-edge hybrid technology.
“The Amels 80 is a design that will not age. Her modern strong lines will look as good in 10 years as the day she is delivered. She is a big ship, full of features, with an impressive interior volume. She is everything and more that you would expect from an 80-metre yacht. There is a sense of scale, and nothing is wasted,” shares Øino.
While the interiors are being handled by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design as soon as the yacht arrives in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, from her build facility in Galati, Romania, to complete the outfitting process.
“It’s a very neutral and natural palette,” shares Paul Costerus, Lead Designer at Sinot. “Materials are treated so that the natural characteristics remain as pure as possible. The style is distinctive and allows the owner to customize and add their personal style.”
With two years to go before delivery, the new Amels 80 will come equipped with a helicopter landing area, 200-square-metre (2,153 sq ft) sun deck, as well as a waterside beach club with three sides that open and allow access to the wellness area. The personal owner’s deck will also feature large, framed owners offering panoramic views of the main deck.
