German superyacht builder, Abeking & Rasmussen, has proudly announced the successful launch of LIVA°, their new flagship model measuring in at 387.8ft (118.2m). Upon the launch of the yacht, Abeking & Rasmussen CEO, Matthias Hellman shared, “The delivery of this magnificent superyacht marks a defining moment for our company, and I can confidently say: we have once again succeeded in building an exceptional yacht. By upholding our values of innovation, quality, and client satisfaction, we have created a yacht that sets new industry standards and delights our discerning clientele.”
The Yacht Design Process
Featuring an exterior and interior design by Joseph Dirand Architecture in Paris, the team shared an intimate interview and conversation with Dirand upon seeing the yacht exit the shed for the first time, “I wanted this boat to be timeless, elegant, pure, thin, classic, contemporary with a large amount of outdoor space to be immersive with the surrounding landscape. This is exactly what I see when I look at it today – the black hull is really spectacular and looks completely monolithic.
“I have been obsessed by this project during all those years and it is the opportunity of my life to design a boat like this. I am happy today that everyone is realizing why all those details were so important to get to this result. It is my turn to thank the shipyard for being such a great partner in the realization of this dream.”
Further aiming to enhance the owner experience, LIVA° uses a diesel-electric propulsion system to allow for quiet operation and little vibrations. The yacht is powered by two 2200kW electric propulsion motors by RAMME Electric Machines GmbH supplied by SER Schiffselektronik Rostock GmbH, and two 2240 kW Caterpillar main generators and three 599 kW Caterpillar auxiliary generators, supplied by Zeppelin Power Systems. The yacht is also equipped with four stabilizer fins from SKF to help provide a smooth and seamless journey for all guests onboard.
Other unique yacht design details include two tender garages – one on the lower deck for a 52.5ft (16m) day tender, with the second tender garage on the main deck forward, with the ability to fit three boats, a Triton Submersible, and an abundance of water toys, dive equipment and bikes. A Neptune Lounge offers breathtaking underwater views through a large 3.40m x 1.30m underwater window, while the main deck features a large swimming pool with the option to elevate the liquid marble floor to the upper level, helping to mimic the sea she cruises upon.
Further notable features are the crow’s nest, offering an exceptional 365-degree view, with a helicopter pad on the sky deck to allow further mobility when traveling to remote locations.
Cornelsen & Partner managed the project from beginning to end, allowing the owner’s vision to be carefully respected throughout.
