How did you get your start in yachting?
When I decided to turn my passion for the sea and boats into a profession, I was fully immersed in my career as an officer in the Italian Navy. Leaving the Navy to chase a dream was a bold choice, but together with my wife, I embarked on this great adventure. Thus, in 2001, NSS Charter was born. We started with just five boats and a family-run business where my wife and I handled everything, working side by side.
Our simplicity in management and agility in decision-making were our winning cards. Today, over 20 years later, NSS Charter is a well-established company with a fleet of around 140 boats spread across five charter bases and a qualified staff operating both in booking and at the bases. Our growth is proof that passion, dedication, and teamwork can lead to extraordinary results.
What inspires you in your field of work?
My inspiration comes from anything that brings innovation and offers opportunities for growth, both as an individual and as a company. I’m interested in everything that can broaden my perspective and enhance the services we provide.
What do you enjoy most about the yachting industry? What do you wish you could change within the industry?
I love the dynamic nature of this industry; it constantly offers new horizons and provides clients with unforgettable experiences, whether during their vacations or in the special moments of their lives. Customer satisfaction is also our satisfaction.
If there’s one thing I would change, it’s the approach of some colleagues who focus more on discounts than on quality. For the healthy growth of the industry, I believe it’s essential to guide clients toward choices based on quality. Quality requires a fair price, which is necessary to ensure proper boat maintenance and adequate staff, thereby delivering a service that meets expectations.
Do you have any advice for someone wishing to join the yachting industry?
The boating industry is constantly evolving and requires passion, sacrifice, preparation, and continuous learning. My advice is to be patient; results come with time. Be persistent, never stop studying and learning. And finally, never stop dreaming!
What are some of the challenges you come across at work and how do you approach them?
Every day brings new challenges, whether operational, administrative, or legal. When I first started, I thought my job was simply to rent out boats. Today, I can say that the true mission of a charter company is to solve problems.
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment?
The next one! Every milestone achieved is just a starting point toward something greater.
What is your favorite yacht currently for charter and why?
Currently, the most versatile boat in our fleet is THE MOON, our Lagoon 55. It’s an elegant and refined catamaran, the perfect size for a holiday. Among the boats no longer in production, I consider the Sun Odyssey 54 DS a timeless classic, valued for its style and performance, and still highly sought after by our clients.
