About

Rinker Boats

Beginning in the ‘30s, Lonnie Rinker started building fishing and racing boats out of his workshop, and soon after, the family would spend their weeks working on boat designs and collecting racing trophies. What began as a hobby flourished into a legitimate side business, and soon after, neighbors, family and friends were purchasing them – and this is how their success started.

By the 50s, the company shifted to building a great boat out of with fiberglass along with other innovations such as multiple gel coat colors and back-to-back seating. By the following decade, the Rinkerbuilt boats (as they were known at the time) became internationally known.

In the ‘70s, the yard started building boats up to 20 feet, as well tri-hulls that were 15-17 feet – some of the most popular boats of that era.

The company rebranded in the ‘80s and are now known as Rinker, while the first cruisers were introduced along with the popular Fiesta Vee, a great boat built by Rinker.

Throughout the ‘90s, the yard continued innovating with the launch of fiberglass tri-hull pontoon “Flotillas”, as well as some of the most popular express cruisers worldwide.

In the early 2000s, John Rinker retired, but the traditions and work ethic stayed on. A total of 47 models were released in this decade alone. Notable Rinker models from this era include the Captiva 232BR, 226BR and 246BR. In the last ten years, Rinker was purchased by Polaris and today, the yard builds highly reliable and efficient runabouts, cruisers, and bowriders. Polaris no longer manufactures Rinker Boats, however there are many used Rinker Boats still available for purchase.
