Company History
Established in 1936 in Kelso, Washington, Tollycraft was founded by Robert Merland Tollefson as a wooden boat builder of the Pacific Northwest started out building 16- to 20ft (4.8- to 6m) wooden runabouts. Later, in 1962, the company grew along with technology and began building all-fiberglass 26 to 65ft yachts (8.8 to 19.8m). The shipyard was known for building quality boats that suited the waters of its origination.
By 1987, when Tollycraft was sold in 1987, it was one of the nation’s most prolific boatbuilders, having launched around 6,500 seaworthy, luxury cruisers. It later went bankrupt in 1993. Although the company tried to restart its boat building endeavors, it eventually went out of business in 1997.
