Royal Huisman’s Largest Sportfishing Yacht Nears Completion


Royal Huisman’s Project 406 is about to depart Hall 2 and head for their Vollenhove’s facilities for installation of her upper deck, sun awning hardtop and radarmast. Also known as the “largest sportfishing yacht in the world,” Project 406, the 171ft (52m) yacht, will not only be the largest model of her type in the world, but also the most bespoke in terms of design and engineering.

Project 406 Details 

Built with Alustar® aluminum, Project 406 will span an impressive six decks, offering the utmost in luxury accommodation and sportfishing requirements. Her exterior yacht design, naval architecture and interior design are the result of famed Dutch designers, Vripack Yacht Design Studio.

The team shares, “long bow and high bulwarks sweeping through a clear sheer to a low and uncluttered cockpit aft. The high tower offers outstanding views with a downward angle on the water for specialized fishing. Apart from its practical function, the tower also offers a superb viewing platform for guests, who can follow all the action below.”

Utilizing over 350 experts and builders at the Royal Huisman shipyard, the team is also focusing on testing the onboard systems, technical installations and final touches before her final transport and upcoming launch and sea trials.
