Lürssen and Rolls Royce Announce Plans for Yacht Refit Collaboration

Lürssen and Rolls-Royce have enacted an agreement to work together on yacht refits.

Lürssen and Rolls-Royce have announced their plans to collaborate on yacht refitting projects. This new framework agreement will streamline the refit process and allow for a quicker handover of the refitted vessels to their owners. The two titans in their respective industries have long worked together on the overhaul of mtu propulsion systems on Lürssen yachts.

A prime example of previous collaboration: In 2022 while attending the Monaco Yacht Show, Lürssen and Rolls-Royce confirmed plans to use methanol (a more environmentally friendly fuel source) as fuel for superyachts.

A press release states that the agreement between Lürssen and Rolls-Royce, “reorganizes the cooperation, accelerates processes, simplifies procedures, and defines common standards” between the companies. This agreement “will significantly reduce the time required for overhaul work on engines and propulsion systems” in addition to ensuring “faster and more flexible deployment of Rolls-Royce specialists at the [Lürssen] shipyard and better availability of spare parts.” As part of this partnership, Lürssen technicians will receive bespoke training “in accordance with specified Rolls-Royce standards.”
