Heesen's BOOK ENDS Motor Yacht Finishes Sea Trials

Heesen’s latest 50m superyacht BOOK ENDS has successfully completed sea trials in the North Sea and has been delivered to her new owner. The yacht, launched earlier this month, was previously known as Project Sapphire. She is the second superyacht in the shipyard’s semi-displacement 5000 Aluminum Class, which is designed by the in-house team with support from Van Oossanen Naval Architects for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tests

A Superyacht Built for Maximum Efficiency and Exploration

BOOK ENDS is a fast-cruising design of under 500GT that builds on the shipyard’s successful Satori Class. Book Ends is built for maximum efficiency and exploration, with a re-configured hull shape and shallow draft. Her efficient design is further enhanced by ‘green’ engines from MTU that are fitted with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) units that are designed to significantly reduce NOx emissions

In a statement to the press earlier this year, Heesen commented on the yacht’s new features: “Our in-house team of naval architects created an optimized, low-drag hull design with a reduced transom depth. These refinements have led to efficiency gains of around 12 percent, while a draft of just 2.15 meters makes her the perfect yacht for exploring shallow, turquoise waters.”

Additional highlights on board BOOK ENDS include a fold-down transform that extends the beach club while at anchor, a generous sun deck complete with a jacuzzi, and an elegant yacht interior design from Cristiano Gatto

With a top speed of 23 knots and a range of 3,100 nautical miles at 11 knots, BOOK ENDS will be ideal for both island hopping and longer passages. She will accommodate 12 guests and nine crew

EDIT: This article has been amended to reflect that BOOK ENDS was delivered to her owner on 6 July 2022.
