During last week’s Monaco Yacht Show, Heesen Yachts presented an update on the industry, as well as the announcement of a new 50m (164ft) yacht, currently named Project Grace. Uniquely, attendees were treated to a live sketch of the design by Project Grace’s design team, Peder Eidsgaard of Harrison Eidsgaard.
Mark Cavendish, Chief Commercial Officer at Heesen introduced Peder with the brief, “First, we stared into our giant crystal ball to see what’s in the future, then we gave Peder and his team the inspiration from that and to help we came up with some iconic style symbols, which you see here and on the screen: Land Rover car, Alver Aalto Vase, Beats Headphones, Bang & Olufsen Speaker, Mont Blanc Pen, and Rolex Watch. We chose these contemporary pinnacles of modern design to influence a modern yacht design to work today and years into the future. We also came up with some evocative words to describe what we are looking for: Elegance, Nature, Flow & Simplicity, Confidence, and Sporty.”
As Cavendish delivered his speech in front of the captivated audience, Peder continued to free hand the sketch of the forthcoming Project Grace. The new 50m model will allow accommodation for 12 guests in six spacious cabins and five cabins for her nine crew members.
Peder shares, “The design of Heesen’s 50-metre steel exudes confidence. In keeping with the company DNA, it translates the fast and sporty look of the aluminum yachts into a dynamic, agile form. The profile is not radical or extravagant but refined and timeless. This is a yacht conceived to stand the test of time…Features such as the infinity pool or the unique coffee table on the sundeck, which doubles as an atrium skylight, will be focal points that invite guests to gather together.”
Construction is reportedly due to begin in summer 2024.
