About

Ranger Tugs

Ranger Tugs was founded by Dave Livingston, who began his boating career in commercial vessels, and also consulted for many big names in boat building, including Bayliner, Reinell, Wellcraft, Regal, Larson, and many more.

With a keen eye for design and detail, Livingston started Ranger Tugs and has been running the company for 50 years. He has built reliable extended cruising full size boats that are known for their trailerability so that owners can take their tug boats to various cruising destinations easily. Livingston also has held patents on many products and features that make recreational boating a safer, easier, and a more fun adventure.

“Livingston’s experiences at the design table and his sharp eye for trends, quality cruising, and fun on the water has helped Ranger Tugs thrive into what it is today. He works non-stop on new trailerable trawler Ranger Tugs models and others, and relentlessly enhances construction techniques. Ranger Tugs offer quality cruising with its tug boats.”

Below, we explore some of these trailerable trawler tug boats that offer extended cruising.

Trailerable Ranger Tug Boats for Extended Cruising

RANGER TUGS R-17

Offering quality cruising in a trailerable trawler tug boat, the R-27 is pure fun on the water. The boat is equipped for fishing and water sports in comfort and style. With extended cruising, she is powered by a Yamaha F300 outboard motor to get you and your family where they need to go. She features bow and stern thrusters to make docking easy. She also boasts a semi-displacement hull, and is built in fiberglass. Guests can enjoy seating in the cockpit or at the double lounge seat on the bow. The lounge seat at the bow offers excellent visibility while cruising or underway and is the best spot onboard to take in views.

RANGER TUGS R-29 SEDAN

The modern styling of the full size R-29 Sedan semi-displacement tug boat offers fun on the water with a curved front window and an overhead glass atrium to offer excellent visibility from the helm and salon spaces. The smart aft cockpit provides a reversible seat, and teak table for outdoor dining. The R-29 Sedan can accommodate up to six guests in three separate berths including a forward island berth with an en suite head. Powered by a 320 horsepower Volvo Inboard Diesel engine, it is located outside the cabin to ensure quiet quality cruising. She also features bow and stern thrusters to offer confident cruising and make docking a snap. The R-29 Sedan semi-displacement hull makes an excellent model for water sports activity such as fishing and extended cruising.

R-29 COMMAND BRIDGE

The R-29 Command Bridge features all the offerings that are offered in the full size Sedan, however this Ranger Tugs model adds the convenience of a command bridge. Offering seating for up to four guests, as well as a full suite of controls, she features bow and stern thrusters, Volvo engine controls for confident cruising, Garmin autopilot and nav systems, and more. You can gain access to the command bridge via stairs from the aft cockpit, and the area offers safety features such as guard rails, and also has convenient cup holders and weatherproof speakers. Just as in the Sedan, she can accommodate six guests, and includes an en suite head in the forward island berth as well. The Command Bridge version of the R-29 offers excellent water sports activity such as fishing, day and overnight cruising, and more.

R-31 SEDAN

With many of the qualities of her smaller sisterships, the R-31 has some notable additions that make her ideal for extended cruising, while still remaining a trailerable trawler. Her foredeck features seating with a table that can be raised and lowered, and she also offers wraparound seating in the cockpit area that folds out of the gunwale. When guests are not onboard, the wraparound seating can be folded to offer more space in the cockpit. Inside, she has two staterooms, one large island forward berth with an en suite head, as well as a midships berth with a day head. Standard is the bow and stern thruster for confident cruising and easier docking, and she is powered by a Volvo D4 320 HP engine that achieves a 16-knot cruise speed. The R-31 Sedan’s wraparound seating is a special feature that allows for great entertainment onboard when you have guests, and easily stows away when you need more space.

R-43 SEDAN

This larger Ranger Tugs model is well-equipped with thoughtful features that will bring even more fun on the water, and free of stress – the way it was meant to be. At the center of the R-43 is the salon that has seating for 12 guests in its warm and inviting space. She offers two staterooms, each with its own en suite facilities with lots of areas for entertainment. Conveniences such as USB charging ports, state-of-the-art Garmin nav suite, autopilot and radar make extended cruising even more pleasurable. She features a large, covered cockpit with easy access from the dock via the starboard dive door or the locking transom door that leads to the large swim platform. The cockpit features easy access to the galley, and has an icemaker, sink, and Fusion stereo control, as well as the joystick docking station. Inside, she offers amenities like a full size washer and dryer, a stove and oven, a double sink and a microwave as well as refrigeration.
