About

Sparkman & Stephens Yachts

Legends of naval architecture and brokerage, Sparkman & Stephens came together in 1929 when Olin and Rod Stephens and Drake Sparkman joined forces to create one of the most renowned names in yachting and sailing.

It all began with 52ft ocean racer DORADE, which Stephens had created; the sailing yacht was triumphant in many ways: the vessel won the Transatlantic Race by an astounding 2-day margin.

After this tremendous feat, Stephens became the most sought-after designer/naval architect in the world. Next came the creation of 130ft J-Class RANGER for owner Harold Vanderbilt; the yacht became legendary when she won 12/12 America’s Cup contests in 1937. Sparkman & Stephens continued to soar, and till this day remain one of the most preferred and desirable designers of sailing vessels.
