Founded by entrepreneur Don Davis, Richmond Yachts was established for the same reason many other yards are – because the owner could not find a shipyard to build his dream yacht – so he started his own. As it happened, the yard that started to build his yacht failed, so he stepped in and purchased it, and in 2004, Richmond Yachts was formed. His yacht, STATUS QUO debuted at the 2004 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show as a testament to the yard’s achievements.
Because Davis saw the complexities and time involved in a custom build, he opted for Richmond to offer semi-custom production fiberglass yachts built on spec. Located in Richmond, B.C., the yard boasts a 70,000sqft under-cover facility and has the capacity to build 4 composite superyachts at once from 120 to 155 feet.
