Company History
Plymouth-based Princess Yachts was founded in Plymouth, England, in 1965 as a passion project between ex-Naval Officer Dave King and two friends.
Previously known as Marine Projects (Plymouth) Limited, the yard epitomizes the best of British manufacturing, from its quality craftsmanship, design and engineering pedigree, to the refined elegant and luxury interior styling of its craft. In 1995 Marine Projects partnered with Luxury Yacht Builder Viking Yachts to introduce Marine Projects to the American Market. In 2001 Marine Projects became what is known today as Princess Yachts International. Today, Princess shipyards cover an area of over 1.1 million square feet, operating in 119 countries.
Committed to Innovation and High-Quality
Recognized for a detailed-oriented culture of innovation, the yacht builder designs and constructs an average of 300 high-quality production and semi-production luxury motor yachts in fiberglass composite per year. Princess runs dedicated in-house departments for a variety of specialist tasks that most builders are compelled to outsource, enabling the company to design and build 80% of its components in-house. Princess runs a dedicated metal shop and its own specialist loom shop, which provides them the ability to alter designs mid-build and incorporate customer requests with flexibility.
Timeless Elegance and Sophistication
Timeless elegance, sophistication, and impeccable yacht building quality defines Princess Yachts. This yacht builder is highly recognized around the world, as the Princess name is part of the Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH) family. With more than 50 years of experience, the company has become a leader in yacht building and an internationally-acclaimed brand for its modern yacht design, which embodies hand-crafted, hand-finished detailing.
