Company History

Founded in 1970 by Vincent Lazzara, in Tampa Bay, Florida, Gulfstar Yachts built fiberglass sailboats, as well as motor sailors up to around 1987. As a former chemical engineer from Chicago, Lazzara was one of the first pioneers in fiberglass boatbuilding. After the success of sailboat building, Lazzara ventured into motor yachts, and many years later, his sons founded Lazzara yachts, builders of fast, sleek motor yachts also out of Florida. The company was sold to Viking Yachts in the early 90s, and no longer constructs boats.
