About

Little Harbor Boats

Founded in 1959 by Frederick Emmett Hood – an American yachtsman and naval architect – Little Harbor Marine was originally started in Rhode Island where he built the Ted Hood Marine Complex. He eventually moved operations and construction of the sailboats to Taiwan, where many of the popular designs were built. These designs included the Little Harbor 42, 44, 46, 50, 52, 53, 54, 58, 60, 62, and 63. The company was acquired by Hinkley Yachts in 1999 and boats continue to be built in China. After the sale of Little Harbor, Hood started a new company, Ted Hood Yachts, LLC, which is located in Portsmouth, Rhode Island in the Hinkley Yachts complex. Although the company is American, all of his yachts built in China.
