Blackfin Yachts has come a long way from its modest beginnings on the west coast of Florida. It was founded in 1973 by founder Carl Herndon and a few other diehard fisherman set out to build boats that would lure even the most demanding anglers.
The proof that they accomplished their mission is Blackfin’s stellar reputation for building tough, durable boats that deliver 360-degree fishability.
Blackfin boats has been creating innovative fishing boats that combine yacht-like qualities with cutting-edge technology and high-end construction. Thousands of Blackfin Yachts, ranging from 23 to 33 feet, have been launched over the last four decades, and while they are primarily thought of as top-of-the-line fishing boats, they also are the ultimate family recreation watercraft – ideal for diving, snorkeling and skiing.
Utilizing a carbon-fiber reinforced hull, together with digital engine monitoring, and the latest design and engineering materials, the company thrives on manufacturing state-of-the-art fishing boats that are incomparable in terms of durability, safety, quality and warrantee.
Blackfin Boats: A Boatload of Features
Every Blackfin model is designed, planned and constructed by fishermen for fishermen. Nothing is left to chance. They oversee every stage of the production process, from design through construction and customization, and personally test every model before it is sold.
Amenities
Well-designed livewells and fish boxes? You bet. Easy access tackle-rigging stations? Absolutely. Rod holders? Yep, several conveniently spaced and placed. Food and beverage coolers, large swim platforms, integrated storage, sound systems, expertly sealed compartments for tighter fit and quieter operations … well, you get the drift. Pretty much all an angler –– and just about anyone else –– needs for an exciting (or relaxing) day on the water is either built in or onboard every Blackfin.
Performance and Power
Blackfins are champion offshore fishing boats. They’re built to last and use only the latest engineering advancements and highest quality materials. As for power, Blackfin exclusively installs outboard engines from the industry leaders – Mercury and Yamaha. Options range from lower horsepower single engines to high-power twin engines that reach speeds up to 60 mph. Even with all that force behind them, Blackfin Yacht’s aerodynamic designs reduce bow rise and ensure smoother rides through stormy seas.
Comfort and Customization
You might expect fishing boats to be entirely utilitarian, with little attention paid to comfort. Not true with Blackfins. They have roomy interiors, oversized entryways, unobstructed pathways, yacht-grade fixtures and plenty of seating. Unlike other brands of sportfishing boats, Blackfin Yachts accommodates – and even encourages – customization, so no two Blackfins are alike.
Innovation
From day one, the goal of Blackfin’s craftsmen and engineers was to build a boat that would catch an angler’s eye – one that was rugged and durable. To achieve that, certain “advancements” like cored bottoms, which use less fiberglass, were nixed. The result: While Blackfins may be a little heavier, they are built to last.
The one thing Blackfin has always done is keep up with the latest technology. Any advancement that leads to better balance, safety and performance (carbon fiber reinforced hulls), and makes the captain’s job easier (power-assisted steering wheel, engine monitoring systems, dual 12v outlets with USB support, etc.) gets the nod.
That’s why Blackfin Yachts rank among the best fishing boats ever made and why most of them are still out there doing what they were built for – providing anglers with a sturdy boat that made every day on the water an adventure.
Blackfin Yacht Models
Blackfin Center Consoles (222CC, 252CC, 272CC, 302CC, 332CC)
What’s the #1 reason most seasoned fishermen choose a center console boat? Visibility. Since the helm is smack dab in the center, there’s nothing obstructing their view and they can fish from any side of the boat. Some like center consoles for their wide-open, raised decks and because they are more evenly balanced, which is important when you have several passengers, especially kids, onboard. Plus, there’s plenty of space to store fish, bait, gear, beverages and food.
Blackfin Dual Consoles (232DC, 252DC, 272DC, 302DC)
Dual console boats are fantastic for fishing, too, but they’re just as popular with the cruising crowd. Since there are two consoles instead of one, there’s a clear path from front to back and space for a lounge area. Dual consoles also have more seating and dry storage space than center consoles so they are terrific for long trips and weekend getaways.
Blackfin Reels in the Awards
Even after 40 years, Blackfin boats still got game. In 2019 and 2020 alone, various models were featured in Florida Sportsman as Best Boat; chosen as the winner of the 2019 Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show innovation awards for Center Consoles/Walkaround Fishing Boats; voted Best Fishing Boats Manufacturer of 2019 and scored Marine Industry Customer Satisfaction Awards for yacht-like, high-end design and innovative construction in 2019, 2020.
