A Walk Through SEALION

“I’ve got something exciting! We’re going to walk through the motor yacht SEALION. We’re not going to do the whole boat, but we’re going to meet the sales broker and he’s going to show us the hidden gems. But of course, for every vessel that we visit, you know where it starts. Shoes off. I’ll put them nicely in the basket and here we go! Follow me.”

“There’s a lot of people here, because the motor yacht is popular. We found the man of the hour.”

Welcome to SEALION With Kurt Bosshardt

“Hi, welcome aboard.”

“Thank you so much.”

“Nice to see you again.”

“You mind introducing yourself to all these lovely people watching us?”

“Sure. My name is Kurt Bosshardt. I’m with Denison Yachting and this is my central listing. She’s for sale and charter so step aboard.”

“Let’s have a look. Okay, obviously I know the vessel and it’s an amazing yacht, but I want to see the hidden gems. You give me the highlights of the vessel.”

Highlights of SEALION

“For sure. So, she’s 62m (203’), 1,100 gross tons. She charters for a half million a week and we’re asking $55 million for the sales price. We just completed an 18-month $20 million restoration of the boat. To put that into perspective, when she was built in 2009, she only cost $22 million to build. So, to turn her completely around was another $22 million.”

“This is a very unique style – it’s done by the company Candy & Candy and the Candy brothers were the first owners, so they built her custom. They do luxury homes. They do developments, but this interior is very unique to that company.”

From Yacht to Stage: A Glimpse into Elton John’s Personal Touch

“Show it to me!”

“I’ve got two gems I want to point out.”

“Yes please!”

“One of the Candy brothers were personal friends with Elton John, and he was asked, ‘what would you like to have on the yacht?’ So, they custom built this piano and put it onboard. Elton has sat here and played songs.”

“Elton John has sat here and played songs?”

“Yes, I like to call this Broadway. It’s got, like a New York pop to it.”

“These are the second gem on the boat. These panels are louvers. They’ll completely shut, allowing the crew to set a fabulous dinner with trays and get everything ready to go while guests will have cocktails at the bar.”

“So, basically you would close the louvers and then have a cocktail hour here and then the crew is dressing the table, putting everything out, louvers open, dinner is served. They come through. That’s a lot of fun!”

“All of the surfaces inside were taken up, restored and put back.”

“Not too fast. I’m still looking around. Okay, I can see the amount of work that has been put into this yacht.”

“The interior is extraordinary.”

Luxury on Every Level: Exploring the Main Deck’s Exclusive Features

“Formal entry way leads right to the elevator that goes up to all decks.”

“How many decks?”

Main Deck

“Four decks. You have a guest head over here for the dinner guests. This corridor leads to the owner’s area. You have an owner’s gymnasium to starboard. Yeah, what I like about that is that it’s on the main deck. It’s not stuffed downstairs, so big, tall windows while you’re working out. You have beautiful landscapes views of the ocean and islands on this main deck.”

“On this main deck we have a VIP suite. The reason it’s VIP is because it has it’s on the main deck and has big, tall windows.”

Design Beyond Compare: The Master Suite and Sky Lounge Experience

“Starboard up these stairs, we lead to the owner’s area. Stepping back, is the master

bathroom area. Quite large and spacious with a very large walk-in wardrobe to starboard. Of course, the big spa tub.”

“Look how this door opens. That’s absolutely…that that’s where you see a different design.”

“Very different. I don’t know another yacht that is like this.”

“So, here, we are upstairs on the sky lounge. You’ll note that it’s very wide, very voluminous – the biggest area on the yacht to relax. Huge big screen TV.”

“My God, can I just sit here and have a feeling of how it is to enjoy this area.”

“Yeah, we have a little teddy bear on the screen; now there we go. Different time zones on the screen.”

Stellar Design: A Working Replica of Our Solar System and More

“And the most fantastic, unique thing about this room, is that Candy & Candy and John Vitters were the designers who created an actual working replica of our solar system if you look up.”

“Look at that!”

“And if you sit here long enough – 24 hours – you’ll see Earth go all the way around. When I came this morning, Earth was over here. “

“So, it’s a true working replica of our solar system?”

“Correct and Neptune is way out there. You’d have to sit here for many years to see her go around.”

“That’s fantastic!”

“We have one moon but, soon we’ll have two. So we’re going to have to repair that.”

“But also now, I see the mechanics. That explains also what they did in the master bathroom. It’s that same type of mechanical kind of design. Pretty stunning. But also, it connects everything.”

“That was the idea.”

“And it works.”

“Yeah, and over here, we hired a naval architect to build an exact replica of this boat down to the umbrellas and chairs.”

“So, if someone buys the yacht will you give them the replica with it?”

“Yes, the replica stays on board and if they decide they want it, so does Elton John’s piano.”

“And so, with Elton John’s piano. Which song did he play? Do we know?”

“Honestly, I don’t know. I wasn’t invited.”

“I wish we could know. I would say, ‘My Song.’”

“Maybe ‘Candle in the Wind?’”

Equality at Sea: The Unique Round Table and Thoughtful Design

Aft Deck

“How long have you been a sales broker now?

“Oh, 25 years.”

“Twenty-five years, that’s a lot of experience, and I mean the industry has evolved so much over the years. Well, fantastic, thank you so much for taking us on this quick tour. We’re not showing everything, because if you’re interested in this vessel, Kurt can give you the full tour. We just wanted to get to know the yacht broker personally, but also just show you the special things. What’s the next special thing you can show us?”

“The round table. It was custom made for this yacht. See if we can get the doors to open. There we go, and here of course is the emblem of SEALION.”

“So, one of the owner’s jobs in life is as the Chairman of the New York Stock Exchange. And he doesn’t believe in a rectangular table, so there’s nobody at the head of the table, there’s no chairman, there’s nobody in charge; everybody’s equal around the table.”

“There’s a lot of thought in this vessel.”

“Yes, so basically did he give the designer his story and the designer came up with the idea? I want a round table because that’s what I believe in?”

“And what you mostly will see on yachts is a rectangular table. Of course, the owner sits at the very end.”

“Yeah, so no one’s an owner, no one’s an underling, everyone’s equal.”

“Everyone’s equal and everybody’s enjoys a great time.”

“See the table twirls around, if you want the ice cream or potato chips.”

“Yeah, sushi? I say sushi.”

Sun-Soaked Luxury: A Quick Tour of the Stunning Sundeck

Sundeck

“Yeah, right? So yeah, you’ve seen the sundeck, or do you want to do a quick walk through?”

“Yes, let’s do a quick walk through on the sundeck and then we’re going to thank you so much for your time because we know you’re busy with viewings.”

“I don’t think there’s another boat in the show that has this much real estate open to the sun.”

“What do you say, how many square meters? Or square feet is this? What do you think?”

“I would say at least 10-square meters maybe, at least, but I would say even more. Maybe 2,000-square feet?”

“Yeah, I would say something like that.”

“And every piece of wood. The table, everything was restored six months ago. This is all brand new.”

“So, six months of straight yard time and now SEALION is for sale and for charter.”

“Correct.”

“If you don’t sell her, where is she cruising this winter?”

“She’s leaving Sunday to head to Palm Beach. Yeah, and she’ll charter this winter in the Virgin Islands.”

“In the Virgin Islands. Well, thank you so much for giving us this quick tour. Great meeting you in person as well. It’s all about the people – our industry is all about personal engagement and this is what we tried to do with this video. Thank you so much, all right take care, have a great day. Bye bye.”
