Hello, my name is Doug Donohue. I’m a Viking yacht sales specialist with HMY Yacht Sales in Palm Beach, Florida. Today we’re going to take a tour of the all-new Viking 90 convertible, welcome aboard.
Cockpit
So, here we are in the cockpit. It’s a 224-square-foot cockpit. The overall beam of the vessel is 23 feet and two inches so there’s plenty of elbow room. You’re not going to bump into each other fishing on this one. Large transom kill box, also plumbed in is a bay well; transom pass through gate; transom door; full T cover boards and combing package.
You have two large in-deck fish boxes, and centerline here in the cockpit is the release marine teak rocket launcher. It has a stainless offset that was configured for kite fishing and sail fishing right now in the winter season. It can also be outfitted with a large Marlin fighting chair. Below me is the access hatch to the Seakeeper 35 gyro stabilizer.
Lower Mezzanine
Coming up to the lower mezzanine, you have a large, refrigerated drink box, super large freezer compartment, engine room access, refrigerated dunnage box, another refrigerated dunnage box with your ice dump, refrigerated drink box and storage.
The mezzanine seating has two end tables with a compartment with four tackle center drawers, large aft facing bench seat with lumbar support, air conditioning plumbed through the backrest and Bentley stitching.
Upper Mezzanine
Coming up the stairs to the upper mezzanine, you have a nice, polished aluminum handrail with two rod holders, eight rod rocket launcher on the aft well here also in polished aluminum. A very large L-shaped face and seating with a hi-low table and Bentley stitching on the cushion, lumbar support and air conditioning plumbed into the backrest.
One of the amazing features of this particular 90 is the faux teak aft bulkhead and wings. It is a piece of art – you have insulated storage in the armrests, access up to the flybridge. Above me right here is a large television – this was equipped with an articulating arm, so it just adds to the overall entertainment of the upper mezzanine. To the starboard side of the mezzanine is an aft facing seat also with air conditioning plumbed into the backrest and then Bentley stitching. You have insulated storage in the armrest and a very large barbecue grill.
Flybridge
So now on to the aft section of the flybridge, there are in-deck scupper drains, polished aluminum, nine rod rocket launcher rail, aft facing seat with air conditioning and storage in the armrests. Here is your ladder with teak treads going up to the sky bridge access and then faux paint on your door entering the flybridge.
This is your aft station with bow thruster controls with throttles, teak helm pod engine controls, and two large Seatronic screens for your Garmin. Right now they have the FLIR camera and the sonar, they also have a hydraulic bow thruster and engine controls.
Coming up to the sky bridge, you have a Release Marine Chilean series captain’s chair, Bentley stitching upholstery. You have a large pod style console with three Seatronic streams, teak helm pod, two radio boxes with your Furuno side scanning color sonar, your Furuno radar, your GPS controls, and engine controls. Over in this box is your OctoPlex, your FLIR camera and your spotlight. Up above in the drop down box are your engine displays, your autopilot and Garmin digital depth recorders. Up above the captain’s chairs is a recessed electric Teaser Reel box with US-9 Miya Epoch.
So, forward on the skybridge is another L-shaped settee, sink in an insulated storage box. You can see there’s no full enclosure on this boat, it just has a centerline wind panel. Some customers will choose to do a full flybridge enclosure up here. You’re not getting much spray on this boat at all. It’s a very dry ride but that’s the versatility of a skybridge.
Salon
So here we are in the salon and you can see the extraordinary amount of space and volume in this area. Very large U-shaped sofa, one of the features I happen to like the best about the salon is the amount of storage that’s underneath the sofa and look at the Plano boxes that are recessed underneath the window, that’s incredible.
The entertainment center in the 90 Viking is all controlled by the universal remote. There’s a large pop-up flat screen TV HD and back behind me is a wet bar with backlit pencil quartz stone sink, icemaker and bottle storage. Also, is the fixed staircase up to the flybridge.
Moving forward to the galley, you can see five bar stools with backrests, a wine chiller, again the backlit pencil quartz stone. The finish on this boat is high gloss walnut and is also available in satin finish or vertical grain walnut. You have very lightweight Cambria stone countertops, a Miele tove top, a Miele induction oven, microwave etc. All the galley storage you could ever ask for and subzero refrigerator and freezer drawers. There are six in total.
Look over here to the dinette, it’s a beautiful table, with rod storage all underneath the dinette and seating for approximately 10 people. To the port side is a large day head and to the starboard side is a large pantry. There’s also a bunk in the pantry for a grandchild or extra crew member.
Cabins
And here we are all the way forward, in a very well-appointed VIP state room. You can see a large queen bed and you can see some nice skylight coming through the escape hatch, entertainment center. The horizontal grain walnut really does stand out in this room. And to my left here is a large ensuite head.
Moving aft of portside, here’s the first guest stateroom with crossover bunks, private head and shower, entertainment center, nightstand and closet.
Here we are starboard side mid-ship in the second VIP state cabin. Which features a large queen bed, plenty of storage and nightstands, ample storage adjacent to a large hanging locker, entertainment center, private head, vanity and shower.
In the companionway, there’s a large pantry closet to the starboard side, inlays in the wall panels and then a large laundry suite on the starboard side.
Aft of port side is the fourth guest stateroom for the large double bed, two large hanging lockers, entertainment center and private hidden shower.
So finally, what you’ve all been waiting for, we made it to the master stateroom with a large king bed, large entertainment center and TV, dresser, large settee area, skylight windows on port and starboard side and a large vanity area and even larger is the closet. So obviously the master stateroom is full beam and the His and Her head is also full beam with a shower in the middle, Cambria countertop and marble flooring.
Captain’s Office
Here we are entering the Captain’s Office also known as the flybridge. You have a large Pop Up TV and over here is an L-shaped sofa with a hi-low walnut table. So up at the helm area, you can see the stitch here, you have two large bench companion chairs and a large state captain’s chair. Moving forward, you can see five Seatronics monitors. It’s a very low-profile bridge, everything is within arm’s length and it’s all touchscreen. It is extremely easy to navigate this vessel and look at your navigational preference. An amazing feature to the Viking 90 is the solid windshield. If you look forward, you’re not seeing any framing. Visibility on this boat is second to none in our industry.
One of the improvements Viking made from their 92 was weight savings. And for different construction techniques they’ve managed to save approximately 30,000 pounds from what the 92 convertible was. So therefore, our speeds are much higher cruise speed and top end performance is nearly 40 knots.
Crew Cabins and Engine Room
Moving down below to the crew quarters and engine room. To the port side is an upper and lower bunk for your crew members with a large hanging locker, entertainment center and stereo. To the starboard side is a private head, shower, sink and vanity and a laundry facility.
You’ll also find access to your ship’s electrical service, your OptiPlex system and some breaker panels. And aft is a microwave, refrigerator and kitchen area.
So, the mission statement for the Viking yacht company is to build a better boat every day. And here we are in the engine room finally, and most of the industry professionals or boating enthusiasts would agree this is a work of art, and I will assure you nothing in our industry compares to what you see right here. She’s powered by twin 2,600 horsepower MTU engines. There are twin 40 Kw Kohler generators. Behind me is the Omni 360 side scanning sonar, and on the bulkhead is all of your fuel filters, your electricity, your Watermaker, all of the things that you will need to get to and maintain are at arm’s length.
Well, that’s a wrap. Thanks for joining us today. If you’d like some more information, feel free to visit us at hmy.com, any upcoming show or you can give me a call. My name is Doug Donohue. Thanks again.
