Geographe Bay Race Week, hosted by Australia’s Geographe Bay Yacht Club, will take place February 15-21, 2025. GBRW is a highlight on the Western Australia sailing calendar, providing a great opportunity for friends to reunite and enjoy the beautiful waters of Geographe Bay.
Says the yacht club of the event, “We warmly welcome all sailors, officials, volunteers, support staff and guests to Geographe Bay Race Week 2025. 2024 was a huge success where we saw favorable conditions and a good time had by all! Growing from 43 vessels in 2023 to 74 in 2024, who knows what we can achieve in the years to come.”
Geographe Bay Yacht Club explains that the usual variety of division racing will take place, and after the impressive inclusion of the Super 30 fleet in 2024, a Super 20 fleet may also be included. GBYC says if you have a Melges 24, Farr 25, Platu 25, J70, Elliot 7, Runnals 8, Fremantle 8, or similar, make sure to check your trailer’s wheel bearings and join in on the Race Week fun!
In 2024, the three-day Mini Regatta was a fantastic experience for the Viper Fleet, who shared the racecourse with the Flying 15’s, all competing for the prestigious GBRW Cup! This year, participants will be sailing Windward/Leeward courses closer to Busselton Jetty to create an even more exciting spectacle for spectators.
For those traveling to the event, there will be a delivery fleet departing from RPYC annex/FSC, with an overnight stop in Mandurah before heading to Port Geographe Marina on Friday. All boats will be followed by the RPYC Start Boat “Challenger,” offering a safe and supportive option for newcomers or those wanting to travel together. More details will be announced closer to the event.
Located in Busselton, in the southwest of Western Australia, the Geographe Bay Yacht Club offers stunning views of the expansive, sheltered waters from which it takes its name.
Positioned on the renowned stretch of sand that defines Geographe Bay, the club enjoys a prime location just a short distance from the town center. From the modern clubhouse, you can admire the entire bay, stretching from Capel to Cape Naturaliste, with a clear view of the iconic 1.8 km Busselton Jetty.
Geographe Bay provides an ideal sailing environment and has been the heart of sailing in the South West for over 50 years, regularly hosting a wide range of boats in club events, as well as State and National Championships.
