Company History

Palmer Johnson Yachts is one of the builders that manufactured some of the most eye-catching superyachts in the last ten years.

The shipyard was founded more than a century ago back in 1918 in the area of the American Great Lakes in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. The shipyard’s founders were Hans Johnson and Herman Gmack – two exceptionally talented boat builders. They mastered the boat-building craftsmanship in Europe and used their knowledge and skills in the newly established company. Who would expect that the builder of the wooden sailing yacht at the beginning of the 20th century, today would be one of the most renowned shipyards for high-quality sports superyachts made of carbon fiber composite and aluminum? During World War II, the shipyard was hired to build supply yachts and aircraft rescue boats between 42 and 65 feet and won the Army Navi “E” for Excellence. Today the Palmer Johnson shipyard builds superyachts up to 81.4 meters, which is their PJ World Explorer made of steel. The shipyard has showrooms in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA, and Monaco in Europe – two locations famous for being among the biggest yacht hubs nowadays.

Building Famous Expedition, Sailing and Explorer Motor Yachts

There are more than 200 Palmer Johnson yachts cruising around the world today. The most popular models on the market are the motor yachts of the SportYacht Series.
