Built in Taiwan but headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Outer Reef Yachts is a well-known builder of semi-custom ocean-going motor yachts and explorer yachts ranging in size from 55 to 115 feet in length.
In 1996, Jeff Druek, an American entrepreneur and former merchant marine, couldn’t find a boat that met his specifications, so he drew on his years of experience building homes in the Hamptons and as a commercial fisherman and built his own.
It turned out so well, he partnered with the fourth-generation shipbuilder Shipyard Tania Yacht Company in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, the ideal location on the water to sea-trial the vessels. The craftsmen at Tania Yacht Company won him over based on two factors: superior quality and a willingness to do custom work. The yard has collaborated with successful design firm Setzer Yacht Architects for some of its luxury yacht series, including the new Outer Reef Explorer line with models ranging in size from 108 feet up to 115 feet. The yard also offers 15 yacht models in its Trident Series, Motor Yacht series, Cockpit Motor Yacht, Deluxbridge and Explorer series.
