About the St Barth’s Bucket Regatta:

The 2025 St. Barth’s Bucket Regatta will offer yacht owners, sailors, and spectators thrilling competition amongst sailing yachts. Every year, up to 35 superyachts receive an exclusive invitation to take part in this prestigious regatta. With nearly 40 years of history, this unique non-commercial event draws some of the most exceptional sailing superyachts for a week of unmatched racing and waterfront enjoyment.

The St. Barth’s Bucket Regatta has 27 partners/sponsors this year, in addition to many volunteers who make the event possible. Each year, a portion of entry fees are donated to local non-profits in St. Barth’s. The Bucket Regatta is also part of Clean Regattas – the only global sustainability certification for water-based events.

A Brief History of Bucket Regattas

The first Bucket Regatta took place in Nantucket in 1986, born from a spontaneous race among superyacht owners after a discussion about yacht design and sailing skills. The event involved seven superyachts racing through a 15-mile course in Nantucket Sound and emphasized camaraderie rather than competition, with a bucket as the prize.

Over the years, the regatta grew in popularity, moving to Newport, Rhode Island, and later St. Barth’s, where it has been held annually since 1995. Despite the growth in size and participation, the regatta maintains its original spirit of non-commercial enjoyment for superyacht owners, making it a unique event in the sailing world. The Bucket Regatta stands out on the superyacht racing circuit for its unique goals, with organizers dedicated to upholding this cherished tradition by inviting like-minded individuals every year.

What to Expect at the St. Barths Bucket Regatta

The first day of racing at the St. Barths Bucket is always filled with excitement. Sailors from over 1500 yachts prepare their impressive vessels at the docks in Gustavia and the outer harbor. On the racecourse, the magnificent yachts with towering masts and vibrant spinnakers fiercely compete, demonstrating supreme sailing skill and agility. Back onshore, a lively evening of events energizes the waterfront. Each year, the competitive Bucket Regatta begins with over 30 stunning superyachts in six classes racing counterclockwise around the island of Saint-Barthélemy.

The Fleet Welcoming Party will kick off event on Thursday March 13, alongside an invite-only Owners’ Party. Daily awards ceremonies and parties will take place throughout the regatta, with the final awards presented on the evening of March 16.
