About the European Committee for Professional Yachting (ECPY):

The European Committee for Professional Yachting (ECPY) is dedicated to advancing the economic growth of the yachting industry while protecting the interests and best practices of professionals. It works closely with governments, administrations, and the European Union to maintain a balanced approach between regulations and the sustainable development of the industry. For over 25 years, ECPY has played a key role in ensuring the practical implementation of new measures in the Mediterranean and promotes the professionalization of companies and employees to improve industry standards.

ECPY organizes numerous “Open Days” events throughout the year, providing a platform for yachting professionals to network and showcase yachts available for sale or charter. These gatherings facilitate discussions on industry trends and regulatory updates, fostering collaboration among members. The dates change annually but are always held in Port de Nice, France.

About ECPY

Founded in January 1993, ECPY is an association uniting yachting professionals across various sectors, including brokers, yacht owners, shipyards, and suppliers. ECPY works to promote the economic growth of the yachting industry, advocating for fair regulations and sustainable development while collaborating with governments and the European Union. For over 25 years, it has played a key role in shaping Mediterranean policies and promoting professional standards. The organization also hosts events like the Open Day, Riviera Yachting Rendez-Vous, and the Symposium to foster networking and knowledge exchange within the industry.

In recent years, ECPY has actively addressed several key issues, including entering the European Commission’s Registry of Transparency as a representative of the yachting industry. They have negotiated with French tax and customs authorities on matters like the commercial exemption (70% rule) and new VAT rules for charter contracts, as well as clarified import duties for US-built yachts. Additionally, ECPY has contributed to the development of new mooring regulations in the Mediterranean aimed at reducing environmental impact while preserving the appeal of the Côte d’Azur. They also launched the Transport Agreement and conducted economic studies and legal consultations on the future of yachting in the Mediterranean.
