MEDORA represents a unique and specially designed vessel that is ideally suited for tropical cruising and exploring. Her interior is styled by Candace Langan and is best described as Caribbean Herreshoff. The interior joinery is hand rubbed satin varnished teak with white bulkheads and blue leather upholstery. Cambered teak deck beams and teak louvered window shades offer a perfect balance of nautical character to her crisp elegant ambiance.
MAIN DECK
Starting aft is a built-in transom stairway that leads up from a six foot swim platform. At the head of the stairway on the aft deck is a built in locker designed for compressor and deck gear storage. Forward of the aft deck is a covered aft cockpit seating area with waist doors to the side decks port and starboard, as well as access to the main salon through a glass paneled swinging door. This area also features a BBQ grill and full wet bar. The full walk around side decks are wide and painted with non skid. The decks are protected by a low bulwark with varnished teak caprail and stainless stanchions topped by another varnished teak handrail which provides complete safety and comfort as one strolls the decks underway or at rest.
Upon entering the main salon aft, one will be impressed with the openness and dramatic sight lines. There are large exterior glass windows, built-in teak and leather settees port and starboard that do not impinge on the feeling of open space. Forward of the sitting area is a large central cabinet which houses a TV, bar, refrigerator, and china service for the formal dining table. To starboard is an open teak staircase which accesses the pilothouse above. The dining area is next forward with a formal table seating eight comfortably. There is a u-shaped bench seating area forward of the dining area. This is situated under the large multi-paneled glass windshield that provides light and excellent visibility for the entire salon and dining area. This forward area makes for a great studio or office space.
OWNERS/GUEST STATEROOMS
In the midship, accommodations consist of four owner guest staterooms accessed by a common companionway and foyer. The two aft staterooms are mirror images with athwartships walkaround queen berths, en suite heads and large stall showers. They serve as owner and VIP accommodations and are conjoining. These two staterooms can be shared as a large suite with double doors connecting them. The two forward staterooms have twin berths and share a large head and stall shower located off the port side of the central foyer. All guest staterooms have large satin finished teak armoire styled closets and carpeted decks.
PILOT HOUSE
On the upper deck is a well laid out helm console with three comfortable Stidd seats, a large functional chart table and communication center/office. A day head to starboard allows the watch-stander to never have to leave the pilothouse while underway. Aft of the wheel house is an outside seating banquet with bench seating and hard top covered shade. To starboard is a sink/wet bar. There are storage boxes and storage for the Novurania tender. Tender and its chocks can be removed for an open flush deck area. A stainless steel and teak ladder provides exterior access to the aft deck.
CREW
Forward is the crew area and galley which is serviced by a forward companionway off the dining area. The crew staterooms consist of mirror imaged oversized upper and lower berth staterooms, each has separate head and showers. Both the galley and crew dinette are large and comfortable with a TV and a washer/dryer. The galley countertops are granite.
COMMENTS
The C. Raymond Hunt deep vee design and Kevlar/epoxy composite hull ensures that MEDORA is fast, strong and shallow enough to cruise in the waters of the Bahamas or weather a rough New England Nor’easter. Built and designed to explore the Bahamas, her interior is open and bright, her exterior offers great water access, with wide decks with multiple exterior seating areas that allow guests to enjoy the open air while underway or dockside. The exterior offers a minimum of teak for low maintenance but maximizes the visual impact with what teak there is through judicious use on the caprail and handrails. The perfect active family cruiser.
CONSTRUCTION
Kevlar Composite hull and GRP superstructure.
