Bering B 85
General description
Although the inspiration for Bering85 derived from Bering75, very few details of that boat were left unattended. Indeed, Bering85 is a completely new and very special vessel in Bering Yachts’ family of yachts. Simply put this is too much of a boat for her size and model name. And here’s why.
Design
Reaching MCA 24m+ certification levels is a true headache for a boat owner. On the one hand, you want a larger boat, on the other – the bureaucracy keeps you off that idea. Seems like this is a vicious circle impossible to break from. However, imagine there is a boat that can actually surpass the 24-m limit without the need for the owner to engage with the “24+ mess”. Bering85 is exactly this type of vessel.
With an overall length of 27.1 m and a waterline length of 23.95 (plus 2.2 m of swimming platform), Bering85 falls short of the MCA manning and equipment regulations for 24m superyachts. However, the owner will not be limited in space. Imagine that all living spaces have a height of 2.3 m – the standard of much larger yachts. Another point of difference is the 8m beam of Bering85 while with this length it is common not to exceed 7m beam. Actually, Bering85 is the widest yacht in the class. This is what Bering Yachts means when creating a truly comfortable vessel.
Living spaces / Entertainment
Bering85 has three decks each with an even level. A teak-floored vast flybridge is really a place for sun-addicted. The open area aft the flybridge that continues to the boat deck has three chaise-longues. The flybridge with helm station to starboard and hardcover features fully equipped wet-bar and grill on port. The guests can rest on a U-shaped settee facing the front and starboard side.
The main deck is something that Bering85 can fascinate with. Except for an isolated pilothouse and galley, the whole deck is available for socializing. The saloon impresses with panoramic full-height tinted windows that eliminate the boundaries between inside and outside areas. The feeling is enhanced with lowered bulwarks to make for real frameless views.
The saloon is shared between the formal dinner zone for eight guests and the entertainment area with an L-shaped settee, TV-panel, HI-FI system, and wine cabinet. Further aft, there is a huge alfresco dining area with a U-shaped sofa around the table complemented with chairs in case the number of visitors exceeds 10 people. The swimming platform of 15 sq. m is down at transom. An optional beach-club can be installed instead of lazarette. On the bow, there is a U-shaped sofa with a dining table for those who enjoy privacy.
The lower deck has something that makes Bering85 stand out in the class – the full-beam Master stateroom. This is where 8m of beam pays off, as the Master stateroom placed amidships is enormous. There is two vanity master head with shower or bath, separate walk-in wardrobe, king-size double bed, working table and many more. No need to worry about the engine noises as the engine compartment is soundproof.
The guest en-suite staterooms are further forward to port and starboard. For special guests, there is the full-beam VIP Stateroom in the forward section.
The crew quarters and the crew mess are behind the engine compartment so there will be no interactions between guests and crew at the lower deck.
Layout
Easily customizable for any client needs, Bering85 can accommodate up to ten guests and four crew even on a long-term voyage.
Why Bering85
As was described above, the boat is the largest in the class fitting into the “under-24 m” regulations. From 2021 there’s one more reason for owners to worry about – the IMO Tier III regulation, which requires the diesel-powered yachts from 24 m even under 500GT to install sophisticated equipment to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. Needless to describe how hefty this can be for owners and designers of the new boats. In the case of Bering85, the boat sneaks this requirement as well. Given that condition, 27m steel-hulled Bering85 can be a good option even for those, who considered a longer boat but puzzled with additional costs imposed by the MCA and the IMO Tier III regulations.
Besides this, Bering85 is just a perfect long-range cruiser with sufficient supplies. Optionally, the vessel can receive an ice-capable or tropical upgrade to facilitate the planned navigation.
