TATOOSH is one of the most luxurious wooden yachts ever commissioned in the Pacific Northwest. Seattle’s Vic Franck Boatyard built TATOOSH in 1961 for the Boeing family.
Design-wise her pedigree is impeccable: hull of 2" edge-grain yellow cedar planking by Ben Seaborn (of the famous 26' Thunderbird class) and rigging by New York’s Sparkman &Stephens. Her dimensions are ample: 20' beam, 65 ton displacement, 5' freeboard, 8' draft plus another 3' with the centerboard lowered.
Below decks, the layout emphasizes space and comfort: a 20 x 20' main salon, three guest staterooms including two complete heads with hot showers and sinks, crew cabin and aft cabin. The galley, with two teak-edged built-in freezers and 4-burner stove makes provisioning and feeding guests and crew a snap, while also giving capability for a nonstop passage.
