Massively built of aluminum at St. Augustine Marine Center by WJ Development to specs exceeding the original design by Gerr Marine, Inc. Fantail stern configuration with unique tunnel-drive hull (centerline prop in tunnel) for shoal draft use and "beachability". Designed and built "to take ground with impunity anywhere, any time". WALRUS is the large sister of several other smaller, very successful yachts with the same hull form. The tunnel-drive hull form was originally developed by naval architect William Atken between the two world wars and was later resurrected by Dave Gerr beginning in 1995. Although ultra-shoal draft, these hulls have proven to be excellent seaboats as well as economical to run at cruising speeds. WALRUS is no exception!

The draft is 5' light and 5.5' fully loaded with gear, ships stores, fuel and water full. At rest when sitting on normal lines with normal load she draws about a foot less in the bow than she does in the stern.
Walrus is a refreshing departure from the normal production trawler yacht. She was custom built by a true yachting aficionado with years of hands-on experience building boats. With her traditional lines/profile in combination with her very high standard of construction, top of the line equipment and fine finish, she is a "contemporary classic" in every sense of the term. With her reduced air draft, she is an excellent choice for a Great Loop excursion. She is also a proven very safe, economical and comfortable offshore passagemaker.
WALRUS was commissioned in 2007 after 5 years of construction by and for the owner of St. Augustine Marine Center. She was designed specifically for shorthanded cruising with his wife. Her second and current owner, a true yachtsman in both sail and power yachts, has lived aboard comfortably for 6 years cruising the Bahamas, Caribbean and New England. She has made non-stop trips to "Down East Maine” and the Caribbean from the Bahamas.
This stunning yacht is a unique combination of a traditional fantail motor yacht with a classic look and architect David Gerr's, box garboard, tunnel drive and "beachable" hull design. She is massively built of aluminum. No compromises were made in her 4 years of construction at a cost of $5million. Her interior fit and finish is of the highest quality, with raised mahogany, traditional paneling and cabinetry in the main salon. white painted louvered blinds, walls and furnishings below, stainless steel and brushed stainless fittings and fixtures throughout, and decorated with fine fabrics, art and antique furnishings.
Whether dining at the exquisite teak table on her lovely aft deck or sitting in one of the comfortable leather helm chairs in her pilothouse, WALRUS is a joy to be aboard.
1. Massively built in Aluminum
2. Recently completely painted in Awlgrip, Boot Stripe to stack in 2020
3. 16’ airdraft compatable with the Great Loop.
4. Shallow draft with tunnel drive and “beachability”
5. 4000lb crane and room on deck for several tenders
6. Exquisite fit and finish throughout
