Remarks
Penade is a cold molded boat like all the best
custom boats. The hull is almost an inch and a half thick made of Tongue and
grooved triple layers of Honduran mahogany with west system throughout each
layer and glass on the outside, west system on the inside. This boat will not
disappoint her next owner.
Penade
was finished in 1975 at Brownell Boat Works, one of 130 boats built by the
Brownell yard since the late 50’s;
The
Penade was custom built for Tom and Pat Westscott and was the third
Brownell they had built. With the influence of his friend and fishing
buddy John Rybovich you can see a bit of Rybovich in Penade. John once said it
was the only boat he could fish on without getting seasick.
Until
2013 Penade was a one owner boat, that’s 40 years one owner. That’s almost
unheard of. A true testament of how great the boat is.
In a
restoration project that took three years every inch of Penade has
been totally restored from stem to stern. The current owner spent well over
$700,000 on the restoration not including his labor of three years. This is a
must see for anyone search for that special custom boat. You will not be
disappointed in any way. Every inch of the restoration has a story to be told.
There
is almost nothing on this boat that’s not new or restored with the exception of
the main power and generator. This boat has always been a very unique and
beautiful part of Palm Beach sport fishing history. With a knowledgeable owner;
a true classic has been restored into a piece of beautiful performing art
combining a classic look with a modern flair.
