Overview

This is not your ordinary manufactured sailboat.  The design and function that went into the construction of an Offshore 40 were to provide comfort and safety on passages on an unpredictable and unforgiving ocean. Unique to these boats are their incredible construction, seaworthiness and grace with the forethought by the designer, Phil Rhodes, to take you wherever you wanted to go in the world on a voyage. Whether you plan to just do coastal sailing or a long distance passage, you will have the confidence in her ability, unlike any other boat on today’s market.  The proof and evidence is in the condition that this boat is in after fifty-one years and in the sailing pleasure that it continues to deliver.

Let’s do a quick comparison to a today’s similar sailboat. The Aleron 41 is a good match in classic design to the Offshore 40 and features; that being - a large open cockpit, low cabin profile, clean over-hangs and plenty of teak brightwork both above and below deck. This boat is a modern day Offshore 40 at a price tag well over $200,000 for starters.

So the value of the Offshore 40 is relative to its current prodigy and certainly worth a visit and sea trial.
