H.C.
1982 38' HANS CHRISTIAN YACHTS Cutter Freeport Bahamas
$75,000 USD

The 1982 38' HANS CHRISTIAN YACHTS Classic Yacht Cutter H.C. is a sail boat for sale located in Freeport, Bahamas.

Point-of-Aries has been a liveaboard for the last decade. It is well maintained by a Marine Engineer and Surveyor and was-is ready to cross the Atlantic as-is. Much is new, nothing is cheaply repaired, everything works. Sophisticated electronics are at a minimum; the engine has no glow-plugs, is raw water cooled, direct instrumentation for oil and 50A alternator. Most everything is redundant; two of everything or means of doing anything onboard. Single-handed, no problem.

Registration: Both Bahamas and United States

Owner will have no restrictions on entering-or staying in the Bahamas for up to 8-months a year

                Bahama renewal is 100USD/Year

US Registration is Federal, boat is not tied to any particular state or subject to additional tax

Canadians’ may take-over the US registration

Note that this registration status is very valuable in terms of cruising-registration costs (Particularly Europe)

This is one of the best Hans Christians in terms of not having bastardised repairs, damaged internal woodwork or botched armature repairs. None of the main teakwork has been cut-replaced with pine, none of the gelcoat is blemished. The entire deck is netted. An integral ladder is fitted.

Hans Cristian’s are legendary and the best-built there can be. Solid Bronze, Brass and Stainless; Nothing is plated

Solid teak interior, no laminates, solid teak bulkheads, trims and flooring; no wooden components are subject to rotting. I am not into advertising the boat to anyone who doesn’t know this or what they are. It is not a Tayana; it’s far better

Maxwell winches, manual windlass for chain on both sides (50m+) with a warping drum (200m); all overbuilt for purpose.

Fiberglass; minimum hull thickness is 50mm - This is massive; the hull really can't be holed or cracked, Osmosis is irrelevant as a concern. Any fittings are through-hull with backing plates

Keel is poured lead; There are no bolts, no maintenance.

Steering is by a half quadrant turntable with oversize wire to the wheel. An emergency tiller is supplied

Liveaboard for the last 10-years; everything has been done on the boat. Everything. Force ventilated bilge and underfloor, there has been no mould or dampness in any compartment.

As you know, it has survived two category 5's. The present location received direct hits from both Mathew and Dorian

The location in the Bahamas is a Hurricane Hole for 5’s; rate is <500USD/Mo including water and power (Incredibly cheap)

38' length at the waterline / 50' overall / 12' beam (I think – anyhow, wide). 14mT dry (Heavy)

Cutter rig;           1x Main,

1x club-footed jib,

1x100% Genoa, 1x 135% Genoa

Main and Jib storm sails.

Main and jib 4x reef points, booms with reefing winches (Full set of sails, all good).

Standing rigging is in two parts; Mainstays can be removed entirely. Mast is to deck with a brass internal compression post

Ray marine Navigation system, two screens C120/C70 Radar-Echo sounder-speed log-wind instrument CF card for Bahamas. There is a 1,000kW Fishfinder not plumbed-in. There is also an EPIRB. There is a separate anchor-watch Garmin GPS system with display fitted into the main V-berth ceiling. A separate forward-looking echo-sounder too.

Working manual self-steering wind vane with spares (Semi-Horizontal, all stainless/bronze); The best there is

3x anchors, 2x bow, 1x stern + spare. 30m+ chain on all, intact plating, no corrosion, Kenter connections on swivels

6x Spare 3/4” mooring lines and all lines required for running, alongside, anchoring, pick-up buoy and rigging.

Mast is stepped to the top; no part of the boat is inaccessible. 2-piece rock-climbing harness is included

250-lieter stainless freshwater tank, 50-leiter reserve tank. Both are lined. New pumps, macerator drain

Two bilge pumps and spare, new pipework

12v fridge, also runs on 110v by default, two cover access on galley top

Gimbaled 3-burner cooker with full-size oven, all clean, regularly used for baking

X-Box games unit with controllers

All plugs are 110-240v and universal, will take US/UK/EU plugs

All 9x double sockets have two 5v USB ports each

Boat is fully fitted-out for blue-water voyages, fueled and ready to go

Engine spares and most tools, lots of other spares. Everything neat, sorted and bagged, nothing broken

Manuals for engine, manuals for most equipment, photographic history

Full maintained upholstery, Shower area used as a hangar cubboard with full length mirror

Shore-power lines for 30/50A, three 110v extension lines that reach 30m each from the boat for power tools.

Dedicated paint locker (No solvent storage internally)

Lavac head with spares (The best there is; simple)

Diesel heater (Heats entire boat in winter)
