Designed to explore the world's remote regions while being self-sufficient and leaving a low carbon footprint, DOROTHEA III is a 147’ (45m) expedition yacht that combines timeless design and a luxurious interior. She was built to be reliable and provide the efficiency of a commercial vessel while offering the fascination and freedom of yachting.
DOROTHEA III has cruised more than 170,000 miles in the past 8 years. She has undergone two major refits - the first in 2011 and the second in 2015 after having completed two Atlantic crossings and South Pacific, North Pacific, and West Coast of North America cruising totaling over 70,000nm. DOROTHEA III recently completed an Atlantic and South America circumnavigation including cruising the fjords of southern Chile and Argentina.
DOROTHEA III is equipped with a single propeller that offers benefits such as 35% less emissions, lower maintenance, and increased safety with two separate engine rooms. She consumes only 26.4 gallons per hour at 10 knots, giving her a range of over 6,000 nautical miles.
DOROTHEA III's hull is constructed of 20-millimeter steel at the keel, 12-millimeter steel going out from the keel, and turning into 8-millimeter steel all the way to the bulwarks. The superstructure is FRP with carbon fiber stiffening in high stress areas.
The owner will consider a partial trade of a smaller yacht, aircraft, or real estate.
