Jonathan Chapman — CPYB
Jonathan Chapman, born and raised in Woolwich, Maine, developed a love for yachting at an early age while cruising on the coast with his family. He spent his Wheaton College summers working as dockmaster and launch operator at the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club in Maine, and at the New York Yacht Club in Newport, Rhode Island. He also began to frequently race in local PHRF and one design fleets during these years. After college, Jonathan spent the next few years employed as a mate aboard several motor yachts, both private and charter, cruising the waters of the east and west coasts of the United States, the Caribbean, Alaska, Mediterranean, and the Netherlands. This first-hand knowledge about the many aspects of yachting, from vessel servicing to their operation and business management on a large scale, fostered his entry into the yacht brokerage and sales business. In 1999 he started working for a Massachusetts based company which sold and brokered a number of quality production sail and powerboat lines. Desirous of dealing more exclusively with classic, traditional and unique contemporary yachts, Jonathan moved on to work with the well-respected firms of Bartram and Brakenhoff in 2001 and then the International Yacht Collection in 2004, finally joining the team of “Gentlemen Brokers” at Northrop and Johnson in 2008. Jonathan brings extensive medium and large yacht knowledge to both the firm and his clients and focuses mainly on brokerage sales and new construction projects worldwide. He has earned a reputation for honesty and integrity, and for going the extra mile. Currently, he serves on the Executive Board of YBAA (Yacht Brokers Association of America), is a Florida licensed broker, an active member of IYBA (International Yacht Brokers Association), a member of the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club in Maine, and a USCG licensed captain. He earned his CPYB (Certified Professional Yacht Broker) designation in 2005.
