The Baltic / Enchanting, Captivating and Unspoiled
The countries bordering the Baltic Sea have long been associated with sophisticated architecture, medieval cities, grand buildings lining cobble-stone streets, vast enchanting forests and a picture perfect coastline packed with unspoiled islands perfect for exploring on a yacht charter. Historically, this region was famed for its trade routes and production, once protected by the Hanseatic League, and it is thanks to this league that many of these cities are what you see today. Although, not a typical cruising ground for superyachts, this region is ideal for those who want to really explore and examine the history, architecture and culture of the Baltic.
The charter itinerary is packed full of interesting sites and lazing about on your super yacht simply wouldn’t do. But when the weather of Northern Europe refuses to play ball then of course, that sun deck Jacuzzi beacons. Usual itineraries include Russia’s second city of St Petersburg – a reminder of the country’s romantic era decked with gold-domed palaces, delicate baroque edifices and spectacular ballets; Copenhagen – the city made famous as the muse for many a Hans Christian Andersen fairytale; Tallinn, Estonia with its medieval grandiose and age-old buildings plus the north coast of Germany and its quaint fishing villages such as Warnemunde – where it is possible to explore an 18th century lighthouse.
The short summer season starting in Mid May through to September is well worth it: expect to wake up in a different county daily, expect Baltic anchorages to be deserted and cities to buzz with a different crowd than those of its rival in southern Europe. This is where you can be transported back in time to wander cobbled stoned streets, take in a world class ballet and try fine German beer – all in one eye-opening itinerary.
