Located on the North east of the South Island, covering an area of 4000 square kilometers Marlborough Sound stretches from the Tasmin Sea in the west to Cloudy Bay in the east and offers some fantastic sailing through craggy coves, sea-drowned valleys and sheltered bays. Another great stop is Motuara Island bird sanctuary on Long Island. Take a look at the penguins and learn about the other natives birds found in the region. For something a little different cruise along to the Tory channel to see a perfectly preserved whaling stations. All the while if you see somewhere you would like to stop, the captain can drop anchor so you can head off exploring, spend time on the beach, or simply get the water toys out.
