A Yacht Charter to the Dutch Antilles / Delightful Year Round

The trio of islands located just north of the coast of Venezuela seem to have more in common with South America than they do with the rest of the Caribbean. So a yacht charter here has a distinctly different vibe. Firstly, the islands lie just off the hurricane belt making them a delightful year-round destination. The upmarket resorts, high-end shopping and pleasantly-hued houses that the islands are famed for make this an ideal destination.

Aruba is the largest of the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao) that make up the Dutch Antilles. It’s capital city Oranjestad is abuzz with glitzy casinos, high end boutiques and cool clubs –you won’t find any shacks or laid-back beach bars here. It is also a popular haunt for big cruiseships. If you want to do a little bit more though than head out of the towns and into the Arikok National Park, which makes up 20 per cent of Aruba’s land mass. Here you will find lazy beaches perfect for snorkeling in the turquoise waters and hiking trails.Taking a superyacht to Curacao is such a lovely experience as you can sail right into the center of Willemstad – the capital. This town is likened to an enchanted fairy tale land with its pastel-hues houses lining the roads.

Again, you can escape into the rest of the island too and be greeted with the Hato Caves; an elaborate network of stalactites and stalagmites, or try the Christoffel National Park, which teems with exotic wildlife. Bonaireis very different to its neighbors, it is a diver’s paradise so if your yacht charter doesn’t have the equipment then it is very possible to hire some local guides and get out with them. The interior owns vast white salt plains, which sit in stark contrast to the deep blue of the sea. Also, the age-old villages that seem to have been forgotten by time like Rincon, with its winding village streets. Explore the old disused cinema that is now used for making Caduchy, a green liqueur made from local cactus.
