Puerto Rico / The Island of Enchantment
The island of Puerto Rico, lovingly known as the ‘Island of Enchantment’ lies in the north-eastern corner of the Caribbean, a little east of the Dominican Republic and west of the both US and British Virgin Islands, placing it as an ideal superyacht charter destination. Being only 100 miles long and 35 miles wide, it is the smallest of the island group, the Greater Antilles. It consists of one main island Puerto Rico and a series of smaller islands and cays including Vieques, Culebra and Mona. Its rich Spanish heritage is evident in its colonial buildings, Latin fusion music and sultry Samba and salsa dancing. San Juan, the bustling capital is found on the northern coast and is a mixture of grand architecture, a hedonistic party scene and rich cultural heritage in its museums and forts. Further round the coast you will be greeted by pleasant sandy bays, azure waters typical of the Caribbean and a plethora of anchorage opportunities to do some lone exploring. Its interior is a mix of dense fertile jungle buzzing with flora and fauna; it is a bird watchers paradise. It is a great island for a family charter too due to its range of activities including water parks and golf courses.
Puerto del Rey Marina & Resort, Fajardo: Located in the north of the island, this protected marina boasts a full range of amenities. It lies near the historic capital of San Juan, near tropical rain forests and stunning beaches.
