DECK SALOONS FOR SALE

A sailboat hull can support a variety of superstructures, of which a deck saloon is one variation. A deck saloon is sometimes also be referred to as a raised saloon, a deck house, or the pilot house, although there can be some debate between naval architects as to the slight variations in these designs.

While most sailboats have their interior spaces lower than the cockpit for improved sightlines, a deck saloon sailboat has the main saloon, or seating area, raised, often high enough for guests to be able to see outside while seated.

The raised saloon often has large panoramic windows offering views of the water. There are numerous benefits to this arrangement. Seeing outside can reduce seasickness, and the additional windows let extra light into the living area. These sailboats typically have more headroom, making the space seem more open and comfortable. On larger sailboats, there can sometimes be a second helm station indoors in case of inclement weather.

This variety of sailboat may be a bit more family-friendly or accessible to those without their sealegs. The bright saloon is a perfect place to congregate in all weather condition, whether at sea or at the dock.
