Nathanael Greene Herreshoff was a naval architect and yacht designer and engineer that produced a slew of undefeated America’s Cup yachts between 1893-1920. He was a notable yacht designer that created the 144ft America’s Cup racing yacht RELIANCE with a large sail area of 16,000 square feet. He also built smaller 16ft yachts for training the children of yachtsmen at the time. The yard also built the America’s Cup winners ENTERPRISE and RAINBOW. Every America’s Cup winner was built by Herreshoff from 1893 to 1934.
