COMMENTS TO ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The many electrical systems of E2 are seamlessly integrated in many ways.
The Propulsion Control System, Alarm & Monitoring System and the Domotic System are supplied and installed by Marine Automation.
The Marine Automation Domotic System can be controlled by local switches and sensors.
The Marine Automation Propulsion Control System & Alarm & Monitoring System are entirely Bureau Veritas approved and meets all rules of UMS-AUT. This means that all functions of the engine room - starting and stopping all generators, opening and closing all bilge, fire, and fuel valves, starting and stopping all main pumps and ventilation systems, etc., can be controlled directly from the Bridge. UMS removes the need for a third engineer on a commercial yacht.

AIR CONDITIONING: A sophisticated and powerful system installed by VECO
provides the following:
VENTILATION: The VECO system is designed to allow for 9 air changes per
hour in all guest spaces. There are 5 X ATU’s (Air Treatment
Units), all drawing air from the stbd side, through filtration
and with pre-cooling (dehumidifying) or pre-heating. There
are 9 X exhaust fans all expelling stale air on the port side
of the vessel, including from the galley cooking area. All
intake and extraction ventilation ducts are fitted with automatic motor driven dampers controlled by the fire
FANCOILS: 32 X Climma EV fancoils located about the habitable spaces
of the yacht supply chilled or heated air. 4 other technical
fancoils provide only chilled air to special places like the
AV/Server room, under the Bridge Console, ECR, and the
workshop. All fan coils have 8 speed settings.
AC PLANT: In the engine room a VECO CWS MODUL system is
installed. This consists of 5 inverter driven compressor
modules Providing a total of 720.000 Btu/h in the cooling
capacity. To assist in heating, 4 X Boilers providing a
maximum 80kW of heating capacity are installed on the
same circuit. This combined unit supplies all 5 ATU’s and all
1 inverter driven module of 96.000 Btu/h cooling capacity
serves the 4 technical fancoils and provides cooling water
to the Eekels shore power converter.
IMO approved navigation equipment is based around the new Commercial Furuno 3000 System. This includes dual 90 nm X band radars and dual Ecdis systems. No paper charts are required onboard.
As an extra, 3 Furuno Navnet systems are fitted. This gives many backup advantages and extra “yacht related” features and special electronic charts of local areas.
All navigation data such as speed, position, charts, depth etc. originating from the IMO approved equipment and the Navnet system provided full redundancy.
Information is displayed over 7 x 24” bridge displays (with 3 central being touch screen) and 2 x 12” exterior wing displays. Both radars, both Ecdis, conning, graphic depth, CCTV, all Navnet options, can be displayed in many configurations. Also, the Marine Automation Propulsion and A&M is displayed here.
COMMUNICATION AND SATELLITE EQUIPMENT
E2 is equipped with an advanced communication system. VOIP telephone communications via the ship’s wireless internet direct to the users own personal smart device are available anywhere onboard.
Worldwide Internet access is available at all times via Wifi in all spaces of the yacht.
Crew service can be called to the guests’ location by using the space dedicated iPad controller, dedicated iPods, or by Wifi using the guests own personal smart device, or by crew call buttons in the cabins or by 4 iPods marked Bridge Deck, Sun Deck, Aft Deck, and Gym.
Connection is made ashore for voice and data is via two independent Vsats, each able to fully track different satellites. An IMO approved GMDSS station is fitted in the bridge. All radio and satellite receiver components are the latest technology supplied by Sailor.
A telephone exchange between all technical spaces and crew areas is provided as well as a regulation intercom system.
E2 is equipped with an advanced sound and video system. Large smart LCD screen televisions in all guest staterooms, main salon and sky lounge. Most are located in drop down ceiling compartments. All spaces are fitted with flush fitting high quality speakers.
All spaces are fitted with a dedicated iPad allowing for full control of all AV entertainment services, including television.
Audio and Visual files are available from a central server storage, or by internet streaming over the 2 independent Vsats. Users can also play their own personal music or video stored on their smart devices to the local space.
From the same space dedicated iPad or by an app on a personal smart device, full domotic control of all, lighting, blinds, curtains, air conditioning temperature and fan speed.
9 fixed CCTV cameras are positioned throughout the yacht, as well as 1 day/night PTZ camera and 1 infrared night vision camera mounted on the mast. Control is from the Bridge and crews mess. However selected views can be seen on iPads and TV displays elsewhere as selected or permitted.

ENDEAVOUR 2 is a tri-deck explorer super yacht built by Rossinavi in Viareggio and ordered by an experienced yachtsman.
Following more than two decades of yacht ownership, the vision of this extraordinary yacht was born through the desire to explore the far away and lesser known coasts and oceans of this world, without making any sacrifices to the high standards of comfort that are normally associated with a 50m superyacht. Over six years the concept was developed, at the beginning mainly between the Owner and his advisor Don Dennison, and later with invaluable input from Rossinavi, Enrico Gobbi, Arrabito Naval Architects and Achille Salvagni.
The goal was to have an oceanic yacht for all-year round cruising and a very modern looking vessel that recalls the purity of minimalist style. The result is an expedition yacht with a good volume, visually characterized by many stylish details and appealing design elements.
The yacht’s profile shows a generous use of window surfaces, guaranteeing harmony between interior and exterior areas and ensuring magnificent floor-to-ceiling panoramic views from the interior. The external decks of ENDEAVOUR 2 have plenty of space for enjoying the outside, thanks to the various possible configurations of seating, lounging, dining and sun bathing areas. The yacht’s stern features a gym area with impressive ocean view. Last but not least the owner’s suite forward of the main deck benefits from a private opening terrace.
The unique combination of beige and white colours is a distinguishing mark of the yacht and highlights the sleekness of her exterior profile.
The design of the vessel includes all the normally accepted advantages of an explorer vessel such as very long range, economical fuel consumption, main equipment redundancy, main equipment ruggedness, worldwide serviceability of all main equipment, high HVAC (air ventilation, cooling and heating) specification, very powerful and accurate maneuverability including dynamic positioning, very high anchoring and mooring capabilities, flexible port and shore access methods, lower daily maintenance requirements and ample storage.
At the same time, the design was developed to provide arrangements and systems guaranteeing maximum comfort during operation, by way of high quality galley and pantry provisions, easy service flow, very low noise levels, efficient stabilisation, automatic interior and exterior doors, state-of-the-art entertainment and communication systems, expansive exterior awnings, and, finally a higher top speed than normally expected on an explorer vessel.
Some attributes in more detail:
The yacht is fitted with an innovative diesel electric system that allows for economical cruising at 12/13 knots by using only one 950 kW Caterpillar generator. At 12 knots, fuel range is 5000 Nautical miles, including power to all on-board services when underway. Power is transmitted to two 360⁰ continuous rotation Rolls Royce azipods, each equipped with highly efficient counter-rotating propellers. A second generator is also fitted for full redundancy. By using both generators on a rotating basis, the oil change interval of these engines is effectively 1,000 hours or 12,000 nautical miles. Should the owner wish to increase speed for any reason, say to avoid approaching bad weather, both engines can be operated to attain 16 knots (depending upon fuel load).
The choice of Caterpillar and Rolls Royce was made due to their world-wide serviceability and the ruggedness of the equipment. Both systems are over-specified so that neither are ever pushed to their top limits. The choice of a diesel electric system and fully azimuthing thrusters are essential to attain exceptional low noise (low 30 ’s dba) and vibration levels (no drive shafts), to achieve the very high maneuverability required for exploring reefs, turbulent river deltas, and to be able to fully use the dynamic positioning system. Dynamic positioning is very important for an explorer yacht in that it can “hover” for many hours over a protected area, for example coral reefs, without needing to use its anchors. It is also very useful for waiting in a port and on ENDEAVOUR 2 the captain can maneuver the vessel with the single joystick of the system into her berth easily overcoming any winds or currents present, also with the assistance of a 165 kW counter-rotating bow thruster.
The 2 main generators are extremely silent, due to no shaft arrangement being required plus being installed on custom-designed, massive double-mounted flexible foundations specified by Van Cappellen Consultancy, who have defined extremely stringent noise and vibration standards for every area of the yacht. Three other Caterpillar generators of 80 kW each provide electric power when at anchor. They are also double-mounted and operate via a sophisticated power management system that can manage electric power production by way of a load acceptance and shedding protocols. The loading of the generators is therefore always optimal. One of the three identical generators is in a separate space and also serves as the emergency generator.
When exploring, the anchoring capability of a yacht is very important. The design therefore includes 3 identical anchors and 3 windlasses. Chain specification is heavier and longer than required by Classification. The third anchor is used principally for stern attachment which is very helpful when mooring in small bays or rivers. For a serious explorer yacht, a third anchor is essential as replacement if one of the bow anchors is lost, and as a back-up kedge when preparing for an approaching hurricane or typhoon.
The lighting plan for the exterior of ENDEAVOUR 2 has been developed with the intent to create sensational night sceneries that make the yacht recognizable at first sight. Modern led strips and indirect lights have been used overall in substitution to traditional spotlights, for a very fascinating final effect. An elegant indirect lighting system also highlights the grids of thin metal plates, which are a design element positioned aft, and forward, of the main and upper decks superstructure, amidships and on the aft side of the mast.
As far as concerns the naval architecture of ENDEAVOUR 2 construction is completely of aluminum and the hull is full displacement. Aluminum has been chosen in order to obtain best consumption performances and highest cruising speed with a low power installed. The hull lines are by Arrabito Naval Architects and have been successfully tank tested. Each single exterior detail of this yacht has been carefully studied by the designers and the outstanding quality of production by Rossinavi can be witnessed at any time by visiting ENDEAVOUR 2.
