Monte Carlo Yachts. Future, Classic
Carla Demaria, President, Monte Carlo Yachts
Is there anything more superfluous than what we generically call luxury? Probably not. But luxury is first and foremost value, and it’s nigh time to put luxury back in tune with our most authentic needs: time, space, silence, well-being and harmony.
Knowing how to enjoy one’s time is a luxury, because today it is the most precious thing there is. A timeless style is an infinite luxury and a true authentic value that never fades, just like the great masterpieces of art and genius. This is especially true of the masterpieces of Italian style, born of natural elegance, genius and flare that have always been Italy’s hallmarks.
Monte Carlo Yachts is Italian but possesses an inherent international DNA. This combination makes the shipyard uniquely suited to meet the new global demand for functionality and responsibility in luxury goods, which must of necessity become objects that are a simple pleasure to use. Luxury is rediscovering that sense of well-being that can only come when people are placed in the centre of everything, and their needs are met and surpassed in harmony with the environment that surrounds us all. Luxury is a style that mustn’t chase after trends and fads and that doesn’t yearn for the past. Luxury is a classic born today for tomorrow.
Carlo Nuvolari & Dan Lenard, designers
An airplane is beautiful because it flies; a boat is beautiful because it sails.
For a designer there is no challenge more fascinating than creating something new starting from nothing. Which is just the challenge that was offered to us by Annette Roux and Carla Demaria when they asked us to design the Monte Carlo Yachts range.
When facing a blank sheet, the first question to always ask is about functionality. If a boat is beautiful because it sails, then it has to have naval attributes. We didn’t want to design houses made to be moored in a harbour, or cars that go in the water, we wanted to make a yacht that was beautiful to use and had a strong personality.
The MCY design vision can be seen both in the whole and in the details, in the deck layout as clearly as in the porthole design. The stylistic elements that best represent Monte Carlo Yachts’ design concept are found in the high, flared bow and the aft section supports of the flybridge.
We worked with the mission of doing new things, not repeating previous experiences. That’s why when people look at a Monte Carlo Yachts model, they will see a handsome boat that is as beautiful as it is safe and says: “let’s go, let’s sail”. These boats have an intrinsic Mediterranean style; they are so “naturally” refined that we don’t want or have to define them as minimalist. We prefer to speak about simplicity instead: a word that’s fresher and less abused
World Class Manufacturing Process
Fabrizio Iarrera, Managing Director, Monte Carlo Yachts
For the first time in the yacht sector, Monte Carlo Yachts has introduced a modular construction process inspired by the Lean concepts with which the world leaders of the most advanced industrial sectors pursue aesthetic quality and technical reliability in an efficient production environment.
Eliminate waste, pursue perfection: this is the synthesis of the industrial philosophy behind our award-winning products. The construction process is jointly developed alongside extensive technical planning and design: in each MCY, the entire structure of the interior rooms is conceived in modular form so it can be readied outside the hull, in complete control of the assembly tolerances. This system makes it possible to care for the smallest design and decor details as well as all the technical aspects relating to the on-board systems. The result is revolutionary and offers maximum accessibility to implement solutions that limit the transmission of vibrations and noise toward the interior rooms.
The structural concept underlying the boat’s architecture is developed consistently with the new construction process so as to be able to exploit its potential to the maximum and give complete expression to Monte Carlo Yachts’ values.
The production process takes place inside the state-of-the-art yard at Monfalcone: covering an area of 20,000 m2 strategically located with a water front with quays for around 40 berths, today it is at the very forefront of the market.
